John 3:16 has to be the start,
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

    Colossians 2: 6,7
6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.

7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Read your Bible and pray every day, ask the Lord for guidance and he will show you the way,

“But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

    not just by lecturing others

I can be the one who constantly is looking at and pointing at others, and trying to straighten everyone else out.

"nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock." (1 Peter 5:3)

I need how God corrects my character so I am pure and gentle and humble like Jesus. So, it is not only about gifts operating. We need to grow and mature in how Jesus is, in us, and discover how God has us become like this.

"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17)

So, I see, God's love in us changes our nature so more and more we become "as He is" "in this world." And we discover how this is . . . so better than now we might try to get our own selves to become . . . better than we might hope or say we can't become < God does better than what we say is not possible!!

It is about how and what God Himself does in us. And we trust You and depend on You for this, then.

But, yes, we will operate in gifts of the Holy Spirit. But are these gifts only for outward miracles and wonders? 1 Peter 4:9-10 says,

"Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." (1 Peter 4:9-10)

God's grace includes how He favors us by correcting (Hebrews 12:4-11) and changing us to be like His Son Jesus. The favor, then, is mainly for His own Son Jesus, then, isn't it? :) But, of course, also, the miracles and wonders are for favoring His Son, and not only meant to favor us!

So we need then to first seek God's kingdom (Matthew 6:33) > His realm of how He is in His love, so we more and more share with Him in how He is in His own love.

And this makes us more and more all-loving, too >

"if you love those who love you, what reward have you?" (in Matthew 5:46)

So, we need, all the time, then, to personally seek God by submitting to Him, at each moment, not only for His guiding practically and in our social relating and outward ministering, but so He is changing us in our nature more and more to be like Jesus . . . so we are compatible with our Groom so we are ready to share all eternity with Him and one another. This is our basic calling as Christians, and with this I find we have various scriptures to feed us how to live in our love calling > including how to relate with one another as family >

"with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love," (Ephesians 4:2)

Jesus is "gentle and lowly in heart" (Matthew 11:28-30). So, relating "with all lowliness and gentleness", I see from this, means how we are like Jesus in His love in how we relate with one another. But we need the "longsuffering", since our Father knows any of us can at times be wrong and come short of His glory. But Jesus does not give up on us; and so we likewise need to be sweetly and tenderly kind and caring with one another > so our example can help feed each other and restore one another whenever any of us fails, more or less >

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32)

So, yes, being like Jesus includes "forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." So, in Christ we ourselves forgive "even as God". God in us shares this with us, how we are kind and tender with ones we are forgiving, the way our Heavenly Father has so kindly and generously and affectionately been forgiving with us. So, this is basic to living in God's own love. There are times when we sin and fail one another, but our focus is helping one another to become like Christ; and so we forgive the failures, so we can get back and stay on track, and get more real in how to love, instead of being busy with pointing.

"And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." (Ephesians 5:2)

So, Jesus on the cross was sweetly pleasing to our Father, by being a "sweet-smelling aroma". And like this, we grow in being sweetly pleasing to our Father while we make sacrifices and suffer for Jesus. Therefore, we must never give in to "complaining and disputing" > Philippians 2:13-16 > which are smelly with Satan's nasty spirit, and anti-love (Ephesians 2:2).

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

So, yes our Heavenly Father does please to rule us in His own peace. Ruling is at every moment, isn't it? Why would we want to go on time out from sharing with You our Father in Your own peace and constantly share with You in all you desire to share with us?

We can share with our Heavenly Father at His own table prepared before us, even right "in the presence of my enemies", we have through Psalm 23:5. Enemies, of course, can include feelings and thoughts which would have us to give in to lusts. And there can be various memories. But we can feed on love, and not give in to any anti-love and selfish pleasure seeking stuff or pride and unforgiveness. Do not worship any excuses, then :) But worship Him by being attentive to Him and submissive to Him, all the time. And discover how You guide our attention and feelings and emotions and thinking . . . all in sharing with You, so we are more and more ready to share like this for all eternity.

Good, he can come right now if he likes. My daughter won't read Revelations because she seems to think it's too negative. I keep arguing that it has a happy ending, still she doesn't like it. I say maranatha, even so, come Lord Jesus.

    Grace and peace,
    Mark

I agree about Revelation...the last 2 chapters were so helpful to me when my son died, reading from 21 about the new heaven and the new earth. May be you could let your daughter know, how wonderful the words were for me, I feel the assurance and warmth from the Lord.
I pray that the truth of these chapters will be revealed to your daughter. May the Lord bless you both
