CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He did buy me a very interesting book on Marian apparitions for my birthday though.
BTW, how do you *know* that your chaplet has been blessed by the Pope? Does it come with something to authenticate that?

Yeah...the people provide the ticket from the general audience and a nice card with a blessing on it.
Even if its not blessed by the Pope - that's fine. It was cheaper than what I found here in the USA.

Well actually wearing the ashes is supposed to an act of humility.
I look at it this way. For the first 300 years of Christianity, they threw us to the lions. Now, they mock us and laugh at us. Happened again this year tonight after Mass when I went to work with the ashes on my forehead. I'm not ashamed.

Awww jukes... I'm amazed I didn't get made fun of today. I live in Southern Baptist land. I didn't see anyone with ashes today on campus, except at the Episcopalian Lent service, and there was only about 30 people at that. I was the only one that I saw this morning. I'm also the only one that I know of that carries a Rosary wrapped around his hand around campus... imagine that.
