Leggings as pants

What do you guys think about the 'leggings as pants' trend? I see a lot of girls doing this on campus and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Leggings look cute with boots and a long tunic or blouse but I see them being worn with baby tees and it just looks like spandex when worn this way.

I love wearing leggings with long tunics and boots myself - it's cute, it's comfortable and I have a figure that complements the leggings/tunic style, but when women wear them with singlets or with other tight clothing, it looks degrading to the woman in question and the men who I'm usually in the company of tend to heartily disapprove of girls who dress that way.

You are obviously very, very, young. Leggings were very much in vogue when I was a teenager. I wore them back then, and I wear them now, as well.

I think they are cute as I wear them and never said they weren't "in vogue" but it all depends on how you wear them I think.

Yegads... we never wore them with shirts that short (in the first picture). At least I never did. But then, wearing strappy camisole tops with nothing over and with (non-matching) bra straps hanging out wasn't in style in my day, either.

And what IS the deal with the girl in the second picture?! That which she thinks is a dress ought to be worn as a top, with some kind of pants under it.

I don't mind leggings if you're dancing (really dancing, not the bump-n-grind at your local club), exercising or under a skirt if it's too cold for tights/nylons.

Unless they're latex leggings and you aren't sporting camel toe. Then, they can and look pretty good as pants. Providing one's figure allows it.

Wow! That was a scary picture of the lady in the skintight pants! I think they are immodest unless you wear them under a long top or I've seen them worn under a short dress & that looked OK. In my teenage days (the 80s) we wore stirrup pants & long tops & they were cute.

this would be fashionable though,with the right bod. i am way tooooo tall. it's bad enough i am all legs....thinking giraffe here.

I've recently given in and invested in some leggings, having spent most of my childhood in them it took a while to give in and wear them again.

I think they look better with tunic tops, or longer length t-shirts with boots, as long as the top is in some way fitted, if not the baggy t-shirt/leggings combo reminds me too much of the early 90s.

I think some girls can get away with wearing them as pants depending on the figure, and as long as the leggings aren't see through.

Spandex is always a no. Always.

I think the leggings with a tunic look is cute and comfortable but leggings with a tight top is just not my thing.

I haven't worn my leggings out yet in public cause it takes getting use to feeling like you're not wearing anything down there or they feel like pj's.

I was recently explaining my love of leggings to my friend - "It's like running around with no pants on!" And as I usually wear skirts with tights it really does feel that way.

i cant pull this look off. it looks as if im just wearin black opaque pantyhose. i like to wear leggings with at least a very short skirt or even supershort cargo shorts.

i think the worst thing is when girls wear leggings with no panties. eeew. its unsanitary.

I like leggings. I think they are great to pair with tunic tops / short dresses/ and mini skirts. I don't own any see through leggings.

I love leggings. Although not as an alternative to trousers, just because sometimes tights just aren't workable and trousers too heavy. They're useful for beach dresses

Have worn them with long tunics, but otherwise they're too close fitting for me to even think of wearing with any top under 33" in length

they're cute with long tunics, dresses, not-tight-skirts....and they're WARM....

leggings can make a short skirt modest ! But: the leggings should be made of some opaque fabric, such as cotton. And: They should be worn with sneakers instead of heels !
