  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Several judges have already ruled that Musk's attempts to intimidate judges and destroy government agencies are illegal.
No, you said the OP article was "Just an attempt to distract from Elon Musk's terrorism and disregard for the rule of law". Where is your rock solid irrefutable evidence of that claim? By your own edict, don't came back without it.

Everything DOGE is doing is listed on their website. They are being completely transparent on this. If people disagree with what is being done by DOGE then they need to specify which particular things they disagree with and why. Do people not understand that this was one of the centrepieces of Trumps campaign and the American people elected him to do just what he is doing?

I think certain people would rather just repeat whatever they hear from Rachel Maddow or similar commentator.

In the United States, Congress appropriates money, not the Executive. Trump has no legal authority to misappropriate money or fire workers on fraudulent grounds.

He isn't misappropriating money, he is preventing it being misspent.

It's not his place to make that determination. The Inspectors General are tasked with that job, and then Congress can re-appropriate money as they see fit.

The United States is not a personalist monarchy. The president is not a king. We recognize no earthly kings over us.

Oops. Inspectors General fired. (Seems like it was plan.)

No monarch, ever. No American should even recognize a king.

Terrorism? Hyperbole much? Let's see, how dare we lable gang members terrorists but it's okay to label Doge and Musk a terrorist.

You may most certainly disagree with how it's being done, and I do to to a certain extent, but a terrorist. That just ridiculous.

No one is so blind and those who will not see.
Let's see who's the blind one here.

We are mobilizing in New York. We have people going to the Republican districts and going after these Republicans who are voting for this and forcing them to either change their vote or face the consequences," Schumer said during a recent interview with PBS. "This is a long, relentless fight that we fight every day. And I am confident that we will bring Trump's popularity, numbers and strength down if we keep at it, and keep at it, and keep at it."

Yup the violence is being organized by the Democrats including those of tge highest levels.

How many times has this been explained to you? Congress approprites the money. The executive decides who it goes to, where it goes and how much is spent on it. You kniw this, but ignore it because it Trump?

Please provide actual evidence of that claim.

What exactly is "nonsensical"? That's for Congress to decide, not a billionaire oligarch.
Congress just dictates the amounts that each department and agency will have to work with.

They decide the "how much"

It's the bureaucracy within the agencies that determines the "who receives it"

So while it's not nonsensical for Congress to say "we allocate $10 billion to the EPA this year"

It is nonsensical for the federal bureaucracy to shovel that money out the door to organizations that have little to no expertise in the realm of climate or environment.

That's how a Social Justice NGO (whose primary focus is encouraging banks to adopt more inclusive lending practices in urban communities), ended up being the stewards of $2 billion of the EPA budget, to distribute over the next 3 years.

Since the federal bureaucracy & agencies are so heavily stacked with Democrats, them shoveling money out the door to NGOs to distribute over the subsequent years is a thinly veiled way of doing an "even if we lose, we win"
