  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't understand what all this negative talk about pregnancy caring centers is all about. Is it to justify the violence against them or something?

This thread turned from how bad it is to be violent against these centers to a verbal vomit of how awful they are. According to some in this forum these kind of verbal attacks and accusations are the cause of violence against them.

At least that's the general theory behind the posts. You can't attack people or groups verbally cause it may cause people to get violent.

With the overturning of Roe, it becomes ever more important for abortion advocates to convince people, both ordinary voters and elected officials, they instead choose to try to shut up any opposing point of view…

So "some" of the centers have a "certified medical professional" of some sort to harangue women into giving birth rather than a person who isn't one?

Would you rather they not have a certified medical professional there? I think I would prefer to have a medical professional there instead of someone who is going to talk me into killing my unborn child. But to each their own.

Ah, there's the histrionics.

Being staffed by doctors and nurses, they are in a better position to define misinformation than NBC is.
Attacking the source doesn't address the content of what they wrote. The genetic fallacy seems like the go to tactic for Cons after whataboutism.

Don't be fooled by fake news.
Again, crying about the source isn't the same as addressing the content. Try actually doing so.

Funny how we never had fake news until we had a fake President.

I know you are, but what am I isn't the comeback you thought it was going to be.

Moving on.

I'm glad you at least admit that your own post (the one I responded to) was histrionics.

Attacking the source doesn't address the content of what they wrote.

The content doesn't need to be addressed if the source is unreliable. In fact, if nothing coming from the source can be presumed to be true, then addressing the content is a waste of time. You don't need to take medical claims seriously when they come from people who aren't qualified to give it.

That's not how this works. You're engaging in favorite Con fallacy called the genetic fallacy where you attack the source but never address the content. Cons love doing that because you can't ever address the content. Cons also do it when they hand wave away or cry about fact checking their favorite bogus claim.

Edit: I'd like to think the American Medical Association would ruffle your feathers less, but you're just going to dismiss it at "liberal" or "pro abort" because you can't address the content nor defend the dishonest practices of so-called CPCs.
