my mom is a member of the United Methodist church
so growing up I did a lot of stuff with the youth group
their church did not teach that, but a lot of Evangelical ideas kinda seeped in

I guess I can see that being the case with Methodism since they kind of straddle a gap between the Mainline and Evangelicalism.

This refers to "Christ in us" which Paul talked about.

All the gospels derive from Paul's early letters. They are basically parables.
