  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sometimes I wonder if me and God are still pals. I talked to him often, but it always seems he's too busy with others to pay me much heed. I feel shunned and alone and am thinking about leaving him to it and going out into the world alone . . . cold, alone, and inwardly hungry. I need his warm arms to guide me on the right path . . . but lately I've gotten nothing but shunned and cold shouldered when I ask for his advice. :?

28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Philisophically speaking, God is either perfect or He isn't. Now as the bible declares almost in every book of His claim to perfection in being, and the sheer scale and grandeur of creation demands an infinite creator of purely limitless attributes, we had better adopt no other policy than that this mighty Creator is indeed perfect and can be nothing else.

What this means to you, me and every other being alive is, that in all of our disappointments in pursuit of such a being, it must of necessity be us who are at fault and not Him as He has nothing to be faulty of, in spite of the errosion of the moral and physical world around us. We or others like us must be to blame for failures in our relationship with Him and never He Himself. It cannot be otherwise.

Even though initial salvation is a free, unmerited, gift of the grace of God to us, I believe that you will find that it always seems to be those who have put the most into God who have also gotten the most out of God. "He who sows bountifully will reap bountifully" is a true principle that applies both now and in eternal reckoning as well

"With the blameless man you will show Yourself blameless" Psalm 18:25b

If there is blame to be levied for something bad that shouldn't have happened but did, we get the blame, but if there is credit to be levied for some blessing that should have happened and did, He will be the "blameless" party in this regard as it was He who in fact blessed us when none other possibly could have. If your not getting much out of God, try putting more into Him as He will certainly go a far, far way to please those who please Him.

You'll likely get a number of good replies here, so I'm reluctant to throw out too many possibilities, but I understand what you're going through and wanted to pass along a couple of thoughts.

I've had periods where I basically felt like I was, spiritually speaking, in a desert I think God does that from time to time to test our faith and push to the next level in our relationship with Him. Consider that a good thing and remain steadfast in your faith.

I have also found that periods of feeling shunned are frequently associated with times when I need to deal with sin in my life. When I'm not dealing with sin correctly (not truly repentant), my relationship with God suffers. I find scripture more difficult to understand and reading the bible becomes almost a chore. When they say all sin has consequences, what I've described here is one of the worst possible outcomes.

Many times in the past, life took me down a dead-end way and I wondered where God was. But then I realized that it was not God- but me that was on the wrong path. Today I never wonder why God is leading me in a certain direction, and sometimes through stormy weather. Today, my most important prayer is to say: "God- I lift up my hand to you. Please take it and guide me through life. I will always trust to Your guidance."

As I go through the second half of life and have learned to totally trust in His guidance, I marvel at how much goodness He has showered on me. It is humbling but it also reinforces the notion that my faith is the most important thing that I have been blessed with in this life.

Don't ever give up on God.

I have felt the same way as you my friend, very recently in fact. What I found was that the one with the "cold shoulder" was not God, but rather it was me. *I* was not prayerfully studying the Bible daily, *I* was not giving HIM the Glory in all things, *I* was not utilizing the Means of Grace, *I* was not continually meeting with the Church, nor continually praying. Perhaps you are doing these things, but if not, you might give them a try before giving up on God, because I guarentee He has not given up on you.

:amen:

Everyone is pretty much saying the same thing!:crosseo:

God has never ceased talking with you. It is IMPOSSIBLE for God to stop talking with you. The reason is because God... is EVERYWHERE. He's Alpha and Omega, the source of ALL life, therefore, His MEANS of communicating with you are unlimited. And his communicating with you is INCESSANT!

God NEVER takes a break from you. He's omnipresent. He works with ALL of his children, individually, personally, and ALWAYS=ALL WAYS.

Take a moment to remember some of the infinite ways in which God is communicating with you!

He's not only limited to the Bible (though the Bible will guide your experience to seeing His presence in ALL things, which is why it's important to READ it!).

He communicates with you through, the tv, a conversation you overheard that seems to be speaking DIRECTLY to you, a tabloid, a signpost, a situation, a friend or family member's suggestion, an idea, a feeling, an emotion, inspiration, an empty wall which seems to speak an undeniable message to you, even through THIS FORUM... :holy:

God is unlimited in His ways of communicating with you. The question is, ARE YOU LISTENING? "Be still and know that I am Lord"

You must be willing to sit, and listening instead of being carried away by your OWN thoughts to HEAR God speak to you. That is the only thing that is going on here.

Be still, and the Lord will Speak to you. For the Lord's voice is of Peace, Love and Joy.

:amen: Blessing be unto you <3 :groupray: Be in constant prayer, but be still and wait for God's answer to you. He WILL speak to you. He always is.

By the way, understanding the truth of God being EVERYWHERE, being OMNIPRESENT, you should now understand that there is NO WAY to "leave God." He is always there. Waiting for your return to Him. He loves you unconditionally and has never abandoned you and NEVER WILL. God loves you <3

The relationship you are to have with God, isn't always about being "pals." It can be at times, but aspect of the relationship shouldn't be the cornerstone. You are a son, not in the conventional sense, but more in the historical meaning of the word. Sons were first and foremost representatives of the Father and his will. In other words they could be considered privileged servants.. Perhaps if you approach your Father as a "son" rather than a "pal" you may get a different result.. Remember as a son or servant to the Father it will be his will you seek, and not yours to be done.

I Would Venture To Say Most Christians At One Time Or Another Have Felt As You Have,i Myself Have Felt Not That I Was Alone But That God Was Not Listening To Me,but Remember Our God Is A God Of Promise,he Is Not A Man That He Shall Break A Promise,he Shall Never Leave You Or Forsake You,sometimes We Can Be A Bit Immature And A Bit Needy As If God Was The Parent Of A 2 Year Old,remember He Wants Us To Grow As Christians As His
Children He Wants To See Us Prosper And Become Stronger In The Faith, and Faith Is The Belief Of Something You Cant Feel, touch,or See, Seems As If Your Faith Is Being Tested, Time To Grow My Brother,i Will Be Praying For You With Great Joy As I Know God Will Pull You Thru This Stage

Here Are Some Words Of Encouragement
Ephesians 2:12
That At The Time You Were Without Christ Being Aliens From The Common Wealth Of Israel And Strangers From The Covenant Of Promise, having No Hope And Without God In This World 2:13 But Now In Christ Jesus You Who Once Were Far Off Have Been Brought Near By The Blood Of Christ

Ephesians 2:18
For Through Him We Both Have Access By One Spirit To The Father

Remember When You Are Feeling Alone Or It Seems The World Is Against You Or You Feel Abandoned By God Remember All That Christ Went Thru All He Suffered And The Sacrifice He Made So You And Me Would Not Feel Isolated

Much Love &
God Bless You
Dave
