  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Leaving for a month.

Monday I have to go away for a month to study at an indian reservation 9 hours away, can't realistically come home for the weekends. Aside from keeping in touch with the wife & children, staying out of trouble, and praying/studying the Bible is there anything I should do? Its been almost 4 years since we've been separated for so long. She would go too but she is working to pay the bills while I'm finishing up school.

4.5 hours for each of you to drive. That's not that far, IMO...but then again, neither is 9 hours when you're separated from your family for a week at a time...
Its a thought but we have small children and the only thing between here and the reservation is alot of nothing. I wouldn't want her stranded with our five children somewhere between here and there.

Hmm - didn't you say in another thread that your wife, rather than working, stays at home with your children, where she belongs?

Very interesting...
She does daycare out of our home! She is wonderful with children and they seem to take to her. The children behave well all day until their parents come to get them and they start acting up, its an odd thing to watch. I am a lucky man to have such a terrific wife.

If she's so busy doing daycare out of your home, how does she manage to fulfil the conditions of Proverbs 31 which you were so keen to bind to other women in this forum?
More importantly, she fulfills her duties as defined in the New Testament and Genesis to the letter. Neat new fangled things like Walmart and poptarts make light work of Proverbs 31.

Pine Ridge South Dakota. Think its Lakota Indians. From what I've heard there's lots of alcoholism, diabetes, headlice, despair, and drug resistant tuberculosis there.
I will pray that God goes before you. I will pray that He gives you wisdom so that you might bring truth and compassion to those you will meet.

I would suggest to phone her every eveing if it is possible. Something that might let her know you think she is special: bring her a small unusual gift on your return. It will warm her heart to know you were thinking of her while you were away. She will shower you with

My mother works with children from that res, and a few others around a 5 state area, she teaches at St. Joseph Indian School, it is in Chaimberlain, South Dakota. It is a resident school. Yes you are right, they are Lakota Souix indians.

You're right, it's not judge and bash. But why should we ignore the fact that in one discussion thread, desi uses Proverbs 31 as a template for other women to live to, but in this thread, for his wife, can conveniently circumnavigate it by quoting the NT and Genesis.

Now, unless I'm very much mistaken, not 'practicing what you preach' is widely understood to be hypocritical, the noun from which is 'hypocrite'.

I don't think I should find desi's chauvinistic double-standards acceptable... unless of course they aren't chauvinistic double-standards...
