The thing is, even if they're going to be a humanoid of some kind, I think the bad creatures should look unlike the people they once were. Except for maybe a locket it couldn't get off its neck or something, they should be basically unrecognizable, otherwise they'll seem truly human and we'll feel the need to RP them.

What if they were extremely twisted vamipric type creatures . . . pale, disgusting skin, bright yellow eyes, extreme loss of hair and weight. Their lips could slowly disappear until their teeth which would now be sharp and yellowed will be in the open. They all look alike, but for some reason they still resemble the humans they once were, especially those people who were skinny and bald to begin with. Also, since they would not be the traditional vampires, you could leave the myth about a stake through the heart and just go with shoot'em up. It makes the odds slightly better for the tiny group of those left...not much, but enough. The reason why I say vampiric is because then if one of the party members were to get killed by one of them, then that's one more frightening enemy. I don't know. There is just something about vampires.

Certainly NOT traditional Dracula. More like what Rolemaster described. See if you can find a commercial for I Am Legend. They only show the creatures for about a quarter of a second, but you get a nice look if you pause in time.

I was just wondering. Salem's Lot is the best vampire novel I have ever read, so in my opinion, that is definatly something you should go to the library for something like this rpg. I mean, it does border the traditional vampire line, but it'll get you in the vampire mood.

BTW. Does this rpg have a certain genre that it leans toward? I mean is it more like a serious thing, or does it go more like a horror tale?

I'm not into vampires and werewolves and zombies and things like that, honestly. In my head, I'm really thinking of these things as Moria orcs with vampiric tendencies :sorry:

Not horror. Certainly not. Serious, yes, with smatterings of humor. Like the struggle for survival found in Castaway.

*pokes head in* I hadn't seen this thread or I would've posted sooner! Hi Locket!

As an unofficial RPGer of this up and coming RP, can I throw in my two cents? First; with it starting several years later... it's a good idea. (I was thinking otherwise, but I changed my mind) We won't have to deal with our characters perhaps being unable to cope--if they've been around for several years already everyone will be very good at surviving and thinking on their feet, so I vote for that.

As for the vampire thing... I'm not very comfortable with vampires. I'm not really a fantasy type girl, to be honest, (and yes I know this is a fantasy RPG! but it's COOL.) and I really don't like involving vampires. I'm kinda hesitant about that sort of thing... could we go a different route? (I don't like magic either so I'm not discriminating!) If that works best for the story, that's cool, but I don't think I'll join if that's the case.

Sorry to be difficult XD

They're not... vampires... exactly, because I don't like vampires either. They're more like... you know the orcs in the Mines of Moria? They're like those but they're like spiders in that they pierce their victims with posion to jellify their insides and suck them out, leaving only husks.

Does it sound better that way, in terms of spider-like orcs?

Good. Like I said, I really don't like the idea of vampires either.

Ummmm... the characters might have called them vampires at first, since that's the closest comparison they had, but we can think of a three-year name as well.
