It seems to me that those with all the big reps are running the repaholics forum, no offense, but that is what I see.

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with you. Most of us here work hard for our reps.

Maybe the ones with little reppage are tired of feeling unimportant and ignored in their new threads. Seems to be an elite group here that gets all the attention. I know this gets me down. The same people get popular threads most of the time and the same ones make new threads all the time. Why not visit some of the other threads that are back a ways and show some caring for others, too. It seems there are attention junkies here. This is IMHO. Forgive me if I offend anyone.

I can't speak for everyone obviously, but I have worked hard for my reps. I've taken the time to get to know people here. :)

If people are only here to get reps then they are not going to prosper much. Some may if they buy their reps or use their sock accounts to rep themselves. However they are losing out on what's really important and that's the fellowship. :preach:

Each person needs to do the work that's needed to prosper here. Just sitting back with your hands out for reps is not going to get one very far. I say that in general and not at any one particular person.

People need to take the time to fellowship with others. It's not about the reps it's about the people.

I think this isn't nice to say because you're judging those people just because they have a lot of reps and that's not right to do to them.

A few of them were making alot of threads here to help people get more rep points. If you don't want to use them then maybe that's why the rep score stays in the low numbers. It worked for them.
I agree the big reppers are helping and giving sound advice to us small reppers. Within a week I believe I jumped 2 stars and one star over night thanks to help from the big reppers. They are trying to help us move up, and I do appreciate that.

The nicest part of repping -- like most activities -- has been getting to know people and making friends. There are a couple of rep threads I post on a lot -- e.g., Repzilla University and have enjoyed that a lot. Besides my usual posting sites, Golden Eagles and Prayer, Repaholics has been a great place to get to know people.

There are a few threads I've started that have gone nowhere and that is disappointing, but when I look over the total experience repping has been a great way to meet people and to send encouragement. I enjoy the notes people write and bible verses so much.

I'd rep this (and a few others) if I had any left

Des, LOL
by rep envy I didn't mean it the normal way heheh
I meant holding it against people and harboring anger against them for it.;)
And I'd also say that there's rep envy for every level here (except maybe Gazelle & 3 others lol) - there's always someone with alot more than you have...

you know, I'd have 1 questions for secretsibling... just where does she expect the "big reppers" to go if we're taking over the forum?
Is there some sort of rep amount we hit that we need to just "retire" so we get out of your way or something?

I mean, what would make her happy? It seems to me that either way we did this it would be the wrong way:
stay and you're "running" the forum
leave and you got your reps and took off and left you in their dust.

Either way is wrong isn't it? So what do people do to make you happy?

Okay time to give my two cents. I like the rep threads that allow for fellowshipping. To me a rep is a way of giving a hug or saying hello. If someone reps me, I rep them back. It doesn't matter if they have a high rep count like Gazelle or Avatar or a low rep count like a brand new member.

I think people sometimes put too much emphasis on what another person's rep count is. It is like worrying too much about what upgrades your neighbor is doing to their house. I don't try to keep up with the Jones and Smiths. If you do that you will have no fun.

I have gone on the lower rep threads and traded with those with low rep counts. Many others have done the same.

A lot of people were having trouble getting on the last two weeks. My last two weeks I spent all my computer time trying to look after pets whose owners couldn't get on the site. To me that was far more important than increasing my rep count.

I started repping on the very first repping thread with no stars. There are lots of fantastic people on that thread. A lot of people have passed me rep wise and some have a lower rep count than me. But I have never been treated any different because of my rep count. To say that any particular group runs the show is completely wrong.

If you want your rep count to increase, be friendly, post on the rep threads and always return a rep. And when your rep counts increase, which you know they will cause they can only go up, remember those just starting out on their rep journey.

My reps aren't available til after 11:30 tonight, as Atnold S. says.....I will be back to rep.

Speaking of new threads going nowhere....... I found this one "desperate *help*" where a CF PetRescuer is asking for help with reps. She only has 274,504 reps currently. I repped her, but she needs more help. Thanks.
I've come to the conclusion that people just like doing what they're doing and will keep repeating it without wanting to do anything else - some just have limited time in here & have a routine which is fine.
OR, they just go off of their subscription panel and don't read this forum's new threads? Like I said, we all have reasons why we don't play stuff.

New threads have to be bumped massive times or else they won't make it at all... and even with massive bumpage it's no gaurantee that will take off.
I may never understand it - but if there's enough people who are bored w/ the status quo then they can play on those new threads & get ahead or enjoy doing something different together; maybe eventually it would catch on? I don't know.

Nadine, your post is thoughtful. Thanks.

I want to thank everyone who keeps the threads going and is encouraging. I know I probably would have stopped posting months ago -- as I did in another website -- without the encouragement. When I first came to Repaholics subforum with very few reps --I was met with friendship and that's why I'm still here.

I guess it's a study for URep about why some threads become popular and others don't:) .

thanks Buttercup, you're a huge asset to this forum imho!

As I think about it, I came into this forum with about 7 stars becuz I do remember being stuck in 8 and 9 & couldn't get out... but I had a really tough time just hitting repzilla. It took me forever.
I remember telling Ctay the same thing when she was stuck at 8 stars - I told her once she hit 10, things go alot easier here.

Once I hit 10 it picked right up. But my main pet peeve is that the people who attack "big reppers" or get rep envy where they're angry at other people for having reps, are the same ones that aren't here very often working the forum threads on a regular basis.

And they aren't doing the new threads that involve similar rep levels (which were made for them so they could climb faster).... if you're going to have a chip on your shoulder, at least do the hard work it takes to get to those higher levels & do those thread ideas. Otherwise lack of rep gain is their own doing.

Every one of us here worked hours and hours (and some of us still do) and made new threads to get more rep ideas going & more fun along the way.

That's when it bothers me. If you put the work into this, you do move up. Alot of this imo is effort & time spent circulating and meeting new people.

I agree Buttercup. I left staff and CF all together for about 6 months, I was so discouraged, there was no fellowship and no one seemed to care about anything but arguing. I came back in Feb and found this Forum, I did not have 1 star at the time. I have made some wonderful friends since then and rekindled a few friendships and in the process I have picked up a few stars, but the friendships are the real stars as far as I am concerned.

I see that you edited your post, but I do hope that you will hang in and fellowhip and participate and trust me the stars will come.

There are friendships to be made and fun to be had, just join in and you will be suprised how fast it all happens.

God Bless you!

Waste of time with repping people. What can do with them? Make a living with them by making money? How can another forum with the same size members give out gift cards and Christian forums cann't. All about profits. The forum I put link to is a information site for people that is moving from one state to another. Mods please delete my reps.
