Kissing when not in a relationship - is it wrong/sin?

I don't know about kissing but I once dated a girl who was really close with her brother. They were so touchy feely (more than she and I were) that they might as well have been kissing. That was the end for me.

And for those who think kissing whoever is just fine, I add this to the mix.

People don't kiss for the same reasons they shake hands.

If someone gives into a kiss because of "passion" and "feelings" then the chances are much higher for the same person to give into sex.

If a person struggles with lust then it would not be advisable to put oneself in a compromising situation.

If someone can make out with the world and not jump into bed then meh...whatever floats their boat.

I personally would not feel comfortable getting involved with someone like that.

I like to kiss. But I wouldn't kiss anyone unless I was in a relationship with them and even then I'm careful with it because it's a gateway drug leading to stronger things most of the time

It certainly isn't in scripture anywhere. Most people who think it is sin probably can't disassociate kissing from sex, and I think that's both abnormal and unhealthy. Personally I think we'd be better off if our culture (that is, in North America) didn't sexualize physical contact between people so much that they freak out about it.

EDIT: Not-so-blind post. If you're actually making out with someone, heck yes it's a bad idea. That's like driving your car at full speed towards a cliff and thinking you can just stop right before you go off. Sure it's possible, but it's extremely risky. Why would you do that to yourself? And more importantly, why would you do it to someone else whom you consider your friend?

This it not only tempts for more but you can also catch things orally as well.

I think this falls into the "Everything is lawful, but not all things edify" category.

No its not a sin, but is it a good thing to be doing? thats up to the individual to decide.

For me, I'd have to know the kiss meant something. I'm not into kissing random people because for me to kiss someone means I care about them. Besides that, I'm not the kind of person to send signals of interest to someone that I'm not actually interested in. thats kind of a cruel thing to do.

A sin? I dont know. But its definitely inappropriate. Clubbing and drunken partying are not activities for believers.

So I can do anything so long as no one calls it a sin. Yes, I like to have my several girlsfriends over and we all make out. And no one can point the finger because we all go to the same church. Got it.

I thought that hyperbole was overstating something for emphasis; not completely misrepresenting the position of someone else.
