I do not read the King James Bible. I prefer the NAB or The Jerusalem Bible. IMO.

I recently picked up a new ESV Catholic Edition. I already really liked the ESV, and it's nice to have the Deuterocanonical books in the same "style".

Or to ask in another way.... Do you believe in unicorns?

Numbers 23:22: "God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn."

Numbers 24:8: "God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows."

Deuteronomy 33:17: "His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh."

No, I seldom encountered anyone with such a fear.

Humans get to a truth by means of human testimonies, even today. That's why you read newspapers and watch TVs instead of going onsite to know what happed around this world. While unicorns are the lack of human testimonies on encounters.

God is encountered by eyewitnesses which the Jews called them the prophets. They are reckoned as the prophets as they can prophesy. We humans cannot do two things, 1) to know the future, and 2) to break the physics governing this universe. God on the other hand, enables His chosen prophets to foretell prophecies and doing miracles. One of the reasons to do so is for His own chosen people Israel to reckon the prophets and for their stories/testimonies to reach today's world.

I'm not a religious person. Though religion is an interesting topic. and I did some Bible/religious study in college. I like the Revised English Bible (AKA, the REB--the 1989 edition of the New English Bible.) It's a British translation, and uses some of the oldest manuscripts known to exist. Including the Dead Sea Scrolls. The work was done by a panel of expertrs from Oxford and Cambridge, and it was jointly published by both universities. Interestingly, you might think of the REB as the 20th century version of the KJV. Which was the 17th century product of teams from Oxford and Cambridge.

One thing is certain for me. When I recall a scripture verse in English, it always comes to me in KJV format. There's something about its melodic lyrics that makes it easy to memorize. This happens to me when I am half-awake and recall Scripture to open my mind to receive from the Lord and peacefully fall back to sleep. The same thing happens with the Spanish language equivalent of the KJV, the Reina-Valera.
