  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's how the world works. You want him to be surprised when he goes to a concert and finds the men's has women in it and he doesn't know why or why nobody else seems to care?
That is not your concern.

That's an odd thing to call it. A person who has values and recognizes that other people have different values and learns how to get along with them in public is part of a "collective???"

Of course it is. I'm a workforce development trainer. I teach adults subjects they were alleged to have learned in school but didn't--mostly basic math.
Yeah. If educators focused on being teachers they would have already learned math etc.
I make more money than any teacher with smaller class sizes and better working conditions. So don't go messing around with public school math education, it'll spoil my gig. It's better to let teachers spend all their time teaching kids how to be gay or grooming them for castration. (though they don't seem to be doing a very good job at that, either.) I can teach them math afterwards.
It is a scam of our dollars. School choice can end this.

And leave the rest out until they have mastered reading, writing ,math, english etc.
I don't think people should be allowed to vote about whether or not their kids will be educated to a world standard or not. If you want your go kids to grow up educationally disadvantaged home school them. There they can miss out on all the socialisation to society you want them to.

You do not get to stop other parent's kids from getting a world standard education y gutting the syllabus of 'things that exist in society'

Go be like the Amish.

Leave religion out of it.
If that happened I would be over joyed. But (I don't know if you know this) in that America some parts have to have Christian Scripture visible for all to see at school.

I'm sure as we both want to keep religion out of school at least we can agree that this is very, very but indeed.

They come from communities they grow up in all their lives.
I don't know how old you are but these days young folk are far more mobile that in earlier generations. Are you trying to raise kids to closeted from the outside world that they are unable to leave because it's too alien?

The basic foundation of communism is

Communism proposes a society in which everyone shares the benefits of labor equally, and eliminates the class system through redistribution of on income.

Communism is about redistribution of wealth

Sounds good on the surface .... but it is the government that decides how that wealth will be distributed. They do this by various means ... taxes and various government programs.

Countries are at different stages in regard to this .... but generally speaking .... eventually one ends up with complete government control under the guise of "equality" and that is not good for the average citizen. Seems the "nudge" to this end is happening in many countries.
I know what Communism is. Now, can you answer my question directly?

"Would you consider the UK a communist country? What about Denmark?"

Boys don't menstruate.
Neither did my Nan. Should she use the gent's toilets and not the women's toilet?

Using menstruation as a characteristic of exclusion seems ill-conceived.

What you are suggesting is fine for parents who want their kids to grow up to never leave their home town, get a manual job and whatever they can in town and never leave to live in the wider world.

The three Rs could get you that far (with a supportive family and neighbours) but why would you want to hamstring a child's potential by not letting the them learn about how society is, rather than how YOU want it to be?

For example: when I interview people for the role of trainee psychotherapist one of the questions we ask is what might the barriers be that might prevent people from accessing psychotherapy. I'm sure you would agree that a candidate who was unable to adequately answer that questions would be unsuitable for working with the general public.

Does that make sense?

That is not your business. Just educate them so they can get a job in the so called wider world.
The three Rs could get you that far (with a supportive family and neighbours) but why would you want to hamstring a child's potential by not letting the them learn about how society is, rather than how YOU want it to be?
So they can go into the world and be well employed. They need the best possible education to prepare them for higher education.
For example: when I interview people for the role of trainee psychotherapist one of the questions we ask is what might the barriers be that might prevent people from accessing psychotherapy. I'm sure you would agree that a candidate who was unable to adequately answer that questions would be unsuitable for working with the general public.

No it does not make sense. We need educators in academics.

Try getting a job if they are you only skills.
First, I'd want public schools to be reliable in teaching at least reading, writing, and arithmetic. Right now...not even that level of reliability is assured.

I'm reliably informed that America is about 6th in the world for education so your assertion appears to be false.

Edit: seem more like 13th in the world ranking but that's still hardly a match for your assertion.

I didn't say it never happened. I said it didn't happen reliably.

If your local school is not doing enough to teach the basics then you'd have cause for concern. But it's not a case of either/or. I think a lot of people would be surprised at how much kids learn about the world in school apart from reading, writing and 'rithmetic. What they read and what they write about is equally important as how they actually perform those tasks.

The way some people talk is as if no basics were covered in school on Monday because everyone had to go to the boys toilet block to watch a tampon dispenser being installed.

Oh please. Just admit your implication is based on in accurate knowledge on your part.

If America was 167th in world the ranking in educational attainment you would have a point but it’s not so you don’t.

For the United States to be 13th is bad.

But when you look at different stats:

According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), less than 40% of students in public and non-public schools in the United States are reading at or above grade level.

It's even worse.

So that's why. Now I understand. It's all about the money. Kind of like the gender field. Makes sense now.
