Well hours is better than days I suppose. So you are also saying Walz was not better? If you are going to offer criticism you should make it fair and equal. Trump was soundly criticized for not doing something in hours and he deserved that criticism. Walz didn't do something foe a LOT longer. He deserves to be soundly criticized for it. And then Trump called him and told him good after he finally did something. Good for Trump.A call from Trump, the same man who later on Jan 6th wout sit on this but for hours watching his people attack the 3rd branch of our government. Trump has no standing on such matters.

Please tell the whole story. It's important.
Sure he does. He did something in hours as opposed to days. That gives him better standing. Not perfect mind you, but let's be equal with the criticism shall we?My point is Trump has no standing to praise or criticize a governor's response.
Unlike a lot of the dogs being presented here. They both hunt.
But by all means, I think the Trump campaign and his followers should deride the looks of pudgy white 50+ middle American men.
So, it is contest for worst system: unregulated capitalism and unregulated corporate capitalism? OKUnregulated corporate capitalism
It is in exchange for a service. As a federal democratic republic, we chose to be capitalist and socialist. We, the people, decide which services and programs our tax dollars will fund to be "free" at the point of service.
We pay to have a military for our defense. For many years in movies and TV, we've cherished and honored the programs, departments, and people who worked for these socialist services.
It is not universal care. It is medical care for the military. The military is the largest socialist organization. Our tax dollars pay for everything in the military: affordable housing, food, tuition assistance, clothing, equipment, and universal health care.
And we are not going to learn it from this either. These are hallmarks of a social welfare system. One problem is ignorance of the different forms of socialism and a misunderstanding of Communism and Socialism.
Communism is more along the lines of what is happening with our children in schools, as well as laws to take them away if we don't agree they should not be mutilated. So you are a communist. Go live in China, North Korea, etc.Another is greedy corporations wanting laissez-faire capitalism only to exploit the people more. And they want our socialist programs and departments to be privatized to profit from them. These departments and programs have smaller overhead costs because they're not in it to make money but for the mutual benefit of society.
An example is the United States Postal Services; for less than a dollar, they will pick up mail from your house, put it on a plane, fly it across the country, and deliver it to someone's front door. Because of extreme greed, the U.S. is the only developed country without a universal healthcare system. Other countries make healthcare a right and find it immoral to make significant profits from the sick and dying. Want to bring down crime, suicide, and depression? Address basic needs like healthcare, higher education, and housing. There is a correlation between poverty and crime. Are biblical principles more in line with unfettered global capitalism or a form of democratic socialism where the people decide which services will be paid for by our tax dollars, making them "free" at the point of service? Here are some of the socialist programs and departments we love.
Public education.

Free to the public, paid for by the people's taxes.
These are the fruits of democratic socialist-style policies, which promote equality and fairness. However, it's disheartening that many of our other policies are driven by greed and a love for money. We must prioritize adding healthcare and accessible or affordable higher education to the list of free things at the point of service. It's crucial to educate ourselves about 'social welfare benefits,' a term like socialism often misused to evoke images of famine in Mao's China or the Soviet Union when, in reality, it signifies a system that promotes equality and justice. This muddying of the waters by wrongfully conflating words has led to fearmongering and red-baiting, leaving many of us ignorant of the true meaning of socialism. These military folks who served earned those benefits and their pension. But we see people in the armed forces who spent their careers reaping the rewards of social welfare benefits provided by taxpayer dollars, condemning elected representatives advocating, among other things, similar policies for a broader range of the population. It's time we all understand the true meaning of socialism and its potential to create a more fair and just society.
If you are going to claim the military is socialist based on those factors then let's take a look at what else the military does. It tells you where you can live. It tells you what you can wear. It tells you what your job is. It tells you when you can eat. It tells you what you can eat. It tells you when you can sleep and when you have to wake up. It tells you when you can shower. It tells you how you have to wear your hair. It tells you when you have to fight and where you have to fight. It tells you who you have to kill. I could go on, but yes that sounds socialist to me. I think we all want that for each of us. Yup the military is a very good example of what socialism is like. The military is the largest socialist organization. Our tax dollars pay for everything in the military: affordable housing, food, tuition assistance, clothing, equipment, and universal health care. These are hallmarks of a social welfare system.
This I agree with. But there is more. Tgey also want welfare too. They want corporate socialism. And so many of them get it.Another is greedy corporations wanting laissez-faire capitalism only to exploit the people more. And they want our socialist programs and departments to be privatized to profit from them.
No these departments have huge overhead costs. Sure they are there for the mutual benefit of society, but the services they provide are often substandard and the costs exorbitant. Now I'm not saying we should get rid of them. Just pointing out they aren't as great or cost effective as you make it sound. These departments and programs have smaller overhead costs because they're not in it to make money but for the mutual benefit of society. Again, not free, paid for by our tax dollars to make it free at point of service to we the people.
And the post office would have shut down a long time ago because it can't even cover the costs of their own service. They operate in the red every year.An example is the United States Postal Services; for less than a dollar, they will pick up mail from your house, put it on a plane, fly it across the country, and deliver it to someone's front door. Other private for-profit carriers would cost you about $16.00 to deliver a letter across the country.
Is it greed? Maybe. I'm not completely opposed to universal healthcare. So how much would it cost the taxpayers for that right now?Because of extreme greed, the U.S. is the only developed country without a universal healthcare system. Other countries make healthcare a right and find it immoral to make significant profits from the sick and dying.
Gee sounds like we already have a LOT of free stuff. And you want more free stuff? You know that's why we have representative government. If you want more free stuff you have to convince enough of your fellow Americans that it's a good idea so they can vote for people who will give it to them.Free to the public, paid for by the people's taxes.
Yeah, socialism would have to come with an increased level of control because of the Gold Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules.
Why not go after corporate socialism first...before Social Security, at least. This I agree with. But there is more. They also want welfare too. They want corporate socialism. And so many of them get it.
One thing should be stated up front is that government provided services are not for profit. It would be great if they broke even, but providing such service is not always going to break even, nor should breaking even be considered anything more than "nice to have." It should be understood as an expense from the start. No these departments have huge overhead costs. Sure they are there for the mutual benefit of society, but the services they provide are often substandard and the costs exorbitant. Now I'm not saying we should get rid of them. Just pointing out they aren't as great or cost effective as you make it sound.
And the post office would have shut down a long time ago because it can't even cover the costs of their own service. They operate in the red every year.
As we calculate those costs, be sure to include the cost of healthcare insurance we (as individuals and businesses) are already paying. Is it greed? Maybe. I'm not completely opposed to universal healthcare. So how much would it cost the taxpayers for that right now?
Well, I have lived with military and government healthcare all my childhood life, my adult life, and will until I die. It's been a good ride so far.Gee sounds like we already have a LOT of free stuff. And you want more free stuff? You know that's why we have representative government. If you want more free stuff you have to convince enough of your fellow Americans that it's a good idea so they can vote for people who will give it to them.
So far you haven't convinced enough of us of it. Keep trying though. Maybe we too can end up like Venezuala or the UK right now with all the problems they are having.
Maybe Harris and Walz will get voted in and we can all have the utopia of being just like the military.
Except when the "gold" is in the hands of multinational market dominating corporations, apparently. But the argument is a bad one. It makes clear that the concern for conservatives is not about our freedom from control, but about who has control.Yeah, socialism would have to come with an increased level of control because of the Gold Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules.
Would you consider the UK a communist country? What about Denmark?socialism" is the spring board to communism ... both are devoid of or limits individual freedom. The left has moved more so into communistic territory ... communism NEVER ends well.
That would be a terrible idea. Most people do not have the education to develop a curriculum for school children. If we the people are given a vote on what academic curricula we want for our kids in schools, and Parents choose to leave out "social" instruction be left out, just academic basics, do you believe we should be able to vote? Because it sounds like you may not think so.
Great pick Kamala! The Republicans thank you.
So our children belong to the government? We the people are simply breeders of the workforce? That would be a terrible idea. Most people do not have the education to develop a curriculum for school children.
Hers was on topic and a valid point. How about you try following a discussion and applying your own standards consistently for a change?
I was responding to @ralliann's question by turning it back around on her. You marked her question as "winner":

so it would seem to me that the question is on topic. If you want to play forum police, that's fine, but don't be so nakedly inconsistent about it.
That characterisation of what I said is disingenuous. None of what I said relates even tangentially to your reply. So our children belong to the government? We the people are simply breeders of the workforce?
The military is nothing like the Christian lifestyle in Acts or other Pauline letters. And military socialism is what the Christian lifestyle and organization should operate like, with Acts 2, Acts 4, Matthew 18, and the Pauline letters applied.
