The term "moderate" has never really meant anything particularly cogent. In the American context usually it means conservative, but not reactionary. Neither Biden nor Harris have sold themselves as being radicals, just being responsible and appealing to some sense of civic virtue.

Back when he ran against McCain, Obama said he wanted to "make government 'cool' again." I wondered; "When was government ever cool?" Are referees, and umpires cool? Well maybe to their spouses, and families. So I guess the "Joy" business is a perpetuation of his goal.

I do think that this “joy” thing is clever, but it is a way to make the chuckle factor appear logical. Now, that is such a stretch to me—like watching a Kamalajote and Walzo Panza joust against windmills.

I think we are making too much of this.
Kamala is simply giving us the opposite of the usual GOP anger and fear.
Naturally a fresh message of hope and joy would be a good strategy even if is is based on fantasy.

There is no hope except in Jesus. Everything else is false hope and we shouldn't waste our time pursuing it.

I think there's a completely different sentiment now compared to the days of Richard Pryor, or even Kamala's DA days.

Yes, it seems that there's a lot of thinking that incarceration often backfires from the standpoint of public safety and crime.
