I cannot believe I have no job to go to today. Yesterday, my boss told me it wasn't working out. I was near the end of my three-months probation. He then went on and on about the procedures of signing off and packing, almost like he didn't want to give me a chance to respond. When I finally was able to ask why, he said he didn't want to go into it and that wasn't the point of it. I did ask again before we were leaving the boardroom and he said he had previously talked to me about that. Maybe he thought that was a "serious talk", but to me, he just wanted to find out in what areas I needed additional training as he saw some mistakes in my work. I definitely didn't take that as a "warning" or anything. After that day, I got a little bit more training but there were still lots that I hadn't been taught and didn't know how to do properly. Then yesterday, he decided to fire me. I honestly don't understand why he didn't have another talk with me and get to the bottom of the training issue. To him, firing was a quick fix (before my probation was up); to me, it wouldn't resolve anything as my replacement would probably make the same mistakes if this boss still doesn't realize that the lack of training is the issue.

But, as with everything else, I have to evaluate myself and know that there were things I could've done better. I don't want to place the blame entirely on someone else. I know there were times when I let my personal issues affect my work performance (especially when I lost a man briefly in my life recently; it affected me a lot as previously I didn't have someone like that). Yes, I didn't have enough training for my job, but with the training I got, I admit there were a few occurrences where I could've been more focused.

Just wondering if anyone here has been fired shockingly, where your boss almost didn't want to tell you why, and when he briefly said "I already talked to you about this before" you didn't feel justified. How were you able to comfort yourself? Also, normally when something sudden like this happens for me, I believe God is behind the scenes and about to do something big. From your experience, did you feel God was behind the scenes when you lost your job and what did God end up doing for you?

And please pray for me! Now I have to deal with being abandoned by that guy briefly in my life, and now being fired. I have never had to deal with either situation and both are very new to me. I was getting better recovering from the issue with that guy and now I'm afraid that being fired would cause a relapse.

Where I work they let go a lot of people before probation time is up, it just saves the company money not hiring full time and paying insurance, then they hire some more and repeat. This could be the same there. You sound like you have things in perspective. I have been there, never my fault, just other factors. I have also, after much prayer quit jobs without any other job to go to. That can be difficult also, my attitude is that God found me this job, He will find me another....the last time the boss accused me of things I did not do, gave me 3 days off...with those 3 days I decided not to come back after prayer..I quit and 2 days later put my first application in and was hired 2 days later!!!! better job, and making way more money than I ever would at the other place, been there over 10 yrs. Forget the guy and move on, believe and trust God has better for you also.

I wish I could say that was the case but the person I replaced worked there for over a year. Also they were giving me benefits so it's not like they could say they were saving costs by firing me.

Ahmunmun, please reread what dragongunner wrote. Please don't compare your experience with the one dragongunner related, but read it for the spirit in which it was written and accept the encouragement.

Oh! And don't compare yourself to the person who held the job for a year. Compare yourself to No One! You are you, and the person who fired you was entirely unreasonable, self-centered, and a grievously bad employer. Believe me, someone like this would have eventually pulled something on you later, and "later" would have been more painful.

I know that what happened is very wounding, but you will move on to something better, to something that fits you better.

I have also been fired "shockingly." I had a job for 4 years at a call center. Probably one of their best employees. They needed to downsize, but also didn't want to lay us off (which was their original plan, then they came back and told us no one would be laid off, even promising our jobs were safe, without telling us that it was because they planned to fire instead), which in my state means that we wouldn't get unemployment benefits, and we'd also lose any other bonuses we'd get for being laid off. Vacation gone, paychecks for years worked, etc. Cheaper than laying off, so I suppose it looked "right" to their bottom line, if not to their conscience.

I was one of 40 people who were on a list (according to my spies), and they just systematically wrote us up for new and random rules and got rid of us one by one, though it was no surprise for me at that point. They escorted me out like a criminal, and when my guards finally got me to the outside stairs and left me, I actually looked up at the 13th and 14th floors and began to cry. It was sprinkling too, 9 or 10pm at night, so it was quite appropriate. It doesn't really feel very good to give some company 4 years of hard work, with even perfect scores in my customer quality and feedback, just to be treated like trash or like a number in a file.

But, in the end, it worked out for the best for me. The scripture says, "all things work together for good to them that love God," and the Apostle immediately adds, :to them who are the called according to his purpose." This means that we who are "the called," those of us who are saved by the grace of God, without our own merits, are tightly held in the hands of God. Though we are flawed in so many deep ways; though we are so imperfect, and are sinners who do not deserve God's grace; though we often doubt Him and rebel with fits of faithlessness, which all flesh is subject to; yet God promises that all our struggles will work together for our good, and that God loves us even in our darkest moments, and will always deliver us.

After that job loss, I was able to finally go to school full time, when before I was getting in maybe only one or two classes a semester due to the hours I had. I also had no real financial troubles, though my mother and I had to move into a one bedroom apartment.

Rest in God knowing that "all things" really do "work unto good," and that our sufferings in this world are preparing us for a much weightier glory to come.

Somethings really don't make sense for awhile. I understand what it's like to have relationship problems. If you knew MY problems with love, you'd probably prefer to keep yours. Ah, I have been absolutely humiliated and shamed beyond compare, with a person I love absolutely despising me, and everything I do trying to fix it, only making it worse, for years and years. That'll probably be with me for the rest of my life. It's not clear, since you used the word "temporary," if you found your lost guy or not (that's why you should put a leash on them, or a microchip), but if you did lose him for good, most likely it was for the best, even though it might be incomprehensible for you at the moment.

I will certainly pray for you! God bless,

~ Ricardo
