Good afternoon everyone. I just joined today. My name is Cindy and im a firm believer in Christ. Im a stay at home mom to two kids. Desiree is 5yrs old and Curtis is 17months. I have been married 6yrs to my hubby Mike and we live in Oklahoma. I just wanted to say hi to everyone.

Hi Cindy. I have a sister named Cindy. Well, actually her name is Cinder, but we (the family) get to call her Cindy.

I'm a stay at home Mom too. I have 7 children. 4 in Heaven and 3 at home. The three at home are Jordan 11, Haven 9, and Lauren 5. Is your 5 year old Desiree in Kindergarten? Or are you keeping her back a year. That seems to be a new trend that nobody told me about.

I've been married to my husband Dan for 12 years. We own a Graphic Arts business called Quantum Graphics. There's a link in my profile.

I think it's so cool that somebody put a pin in this thread. Now it will stay at the top. Yeah!

Anyway...Nice to meet you. There are also some fun games you might want to check out in the rec room. I know with small children....sometimes it's just fun to take a Mommy time out.

Oh...almost forgot....My family (Mom's side) is from Oklahoma (well, originally from England...but you get the idea, We spent a generation or two there) I'm a native Californian. (was that as confusing to you as it was to me? )

My daughter is in kindergarten. I never plan on holding her back. I started Kindergarten when i was 4 cause my birthday feel in oct i was lucky they let me in. But she loves school and is doing really good. My son will have to wait until he is 6 cause his birthday is right after the cut off date. I understood everything you said lol. Where in Oklahoma was your moms family?

You are correct. Neither do I want to comprehend such barbarism. But, believe it or not, I am optimistic. Our Sages comment on Genesis 25:9

And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him [Abraham]...

and teach that Isaac & Ishmael reconciled when they came together to bury their father Abraham. I know that the descendants of Isaac & the descendants of Ishmael will also reconcile one day; I pray that it is very soon.

Part of our country's problem is that it (usually) makes the news only when something bad has happened. Nobody sees all the good & beautiful, and just plain ordinary, things that happen here. In 3 weeks, Wendy & I (we'll be taking Da Boyz too) are off to a big family wedding & are looking forward to it immensely. I always find weddings to be a wonderful mood-lifter; and orthodox Jewish weddings (see http://www.jewfaq.org/marriage.htm) are always a very rowdy & noisy affair with lots of live music & (separate!) dancing.

I'm curious. What kind of church/house of worship does everyone go to? We belong to synagogue that doesn't have a building yet. We meet only on Shabbat (i.e. the Sabbath) and major holydays in a neighborhood kindergarten (for daily prayers during the week everybody goes elsewhere). We sing every part of the service that lends itself to singing (which, as we go, is a lot!) & dance a good bit too (such as when we're either taking the Torah scroll out of the ark or puting it back). Around the neighborhood, we're known as "the happy synagogue". Judaism believes that we must not only serve God but serve Him with joy & this we try to do.

You are absolutely right, we don't see any of this. All we hear is of the suicide bombings. That was a very nice story, thank you.

Hello all!
I am excited because I was offered another job yesterday! The job I have now gives me three hours every two weeks. Now they have offered me the opportunity to begin another cooking group. This means that I will have three or four hours a week. My priority right now is being a mom so the hours are just enough for me. I am so happy! It feels really good to get out of the house and do something constructive(not home related). I also enjoy making a little bit of money to contribute to the family.
Thank you Lord for your rich blessings. You provide all my needs.

I started Kindergarten when I was 4 too. My birthday is November 14th.
Oklahoma City mainly.
The Serenity prayer is hanging on a wall in my bedroom. ( in reference to your signature line) And you are the only person I've met, who actually knows who wrote it. (besides me that is. )

My church is Novus Spiritus. The church follows the teachings of the Christian Essenes.

An admirable attitude. Funny how many people would rather lie down defeated and become synical and jaded then endeavor to hold onto hope. I, like you....intentionally remain optomistic no matter what trials I've had to deal with.

I know who wrote the prayer cause i just got a calender that has prayers on it and it had that and who wrote it. I never knew who wrote it before.

Hi all!

Wisdom Seeker complimented me (thank you!) in being an optimist. We've all heard the old saying that an optimist see the glass as half-full while a pessimist sees it as half-empty. Did you ever wonder why this is?

I once heard Rabbi David Rosen (http://www.jewishaustralia.com/rabbidavidrosenbio.htm), who is very involved in interfaith issues, explain it. He explained as follows: The pessimist lives an ideal world. He sees things not as they are but rather as he thinks they should be. He cannot help but be disappointed by the fact that the glass is not full; his outlook for the future is negative because whatever exists in reality will never be able to match his ideal vision. Thus, he sees the glass as half-empty. The optimist, on the other hand, is a realist. He sees things as they are. He cannot help but be pleased that the glass is no longer empty; his outlook for the future is positive because he remembers when the glass was empty, notes the progress that has been made since then, and is confident of further progress. Thus, he sees the glass as half-full.

I'm an optimist!

FBI78 & Wisdom Seeker, do worship services at your church involve clapping, singing, dancing, etc.?

mle, a cooking group? Mmmm! What do you like to cook? I love to cook & especially to bake. (Wendy always says that when she was a teenager she asked God to please send her a husband who knew what to do in the kitchen. Well, He sent her one!) In fact, this upcoming Shabbat (i.e. the Sabbath, i.e. from sundown on Friday to nightfall on Saturday) is our holyday of Tu B'Shvat http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday8.htm. I always bake date-cake-in-a-can http://www.christianforums.com/t32639 for Tu B'Shvat.

Yohanan is in first grade. He was 7 2 weeks ago. He missed the cut-off date by about 6 weeks & is thus one of the older kids in his class. We thought about pushing to get him into first grade last year but didn't & are convinced that we did the right thing for him.

Hello all! Hey Wisdom Seeker, I go to a non-denominational church too. Stillsmallvoice, my church has singing, clapping, and raising of hands in worship, but not dancing. I have gone to churches that dance, and I have gone to churches with people who stand stiffly by their seats in worship. Having experienced several different styles of worship, I've come to believe that God really doesn't care what we do outwardly, so long as we are lifting our hearts to him in worship. The best worship service I've ever been to was at a non denominational summer camp. The worship leader told us to feel free to worship in whatever way we were comfortable. There was such a strong presence of God there that evening. People were sitting, kneeling, raising their hands, dancing, and some were flat on their faces. I think that is the kind of worship God loves to see. There was even a young man from Israel at the camp that year, Nathan. I didn't really meet him, but I remember his name because it is the same as my brother's. God bless you all,

Hey yall! Im not sure if ia sked you all to pray for pastor cause they thought he had a heartattack.... but i just got an update;.. that hes doing good.. adn at home now.. they have him on bed rest for a few weeks.. he didnt have a heart atttack.. but the pain was caused by the diet pills he was taking.. so thank GOd he's ok! Anyhow.. illbe around laterz love you all!

Good morning all. I pray you day is going great.

ssv, I attend a small United Methodist church. We don't have a praise and worship time but we do, at times, praise during songs. No dancing, no speaking in tongues (although I've been to churches that have had those things). The Methodist have become a liberal bunch and I'm thankful that my church is so small that we don't adhere to a lot of the Methodist traditions.

I like to cook and bake. At the classes we try to make what the participants want to make. The most popular things to make are: lasagna, cabbage rolls, soups, stews, breads, salads and desserts. The classes are for pregnant and new moms so nutrition is really important, as well as the recipes being simple and economical enough to make on thier own, at home.

My church is affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Denomination is not of a great importance to me. In our Sunday morning service we sing, clap, lift our hands, dance, at times we will raise a banner(banners are colourful flags to wave or use in dance), kneel, shout praises, stand, or be still and quiet, and sometimes we take communion.

What is more important than what we do there on Sunday is: how do we worship Him daily with our lives? Are we obedient and loving children? Do we give our selves to Him and submit our lives to Him? Do we take the time each day to honour and give reverence to our God?
