• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Things are quite bad here compared to usual. But even bad here is still so much better than most parts of the world. I've not had a permanite job for 14 months. But I have unemployment and a few part times jobs. Luckly I really simplified my life before I got laid off and so my expenses are way down.

Thanks dayhiker.... The message we are getting over here is not good when referring to the U.S.... I think that the key to "making it easier" is to do what you have and perhaps make our lives simpler by off loading whatever debt we possibly can .... not quite sure that I can make mine much simpler...:) but I will find something.

Everytime I open the paper it seems there is news about another company laying off employees. As far as I know my HMO is not laying off anyone, but I had heard that the organization is concered we will lose lots of customers who may lose their company paid benefits.

No word about a job yet.
I'm still working my temp job several days a week. But it doesn't pay that much.
I do get to occasionally do some handman work that pays me better. I'd like to do that full time, but I don't hve enough contacts to keep busy that way. But I'm going to keep working at it.

I lost my full time job in May. It's the first time I've ever been without a full time job since I started working 'full time' in 1990. I have a part time job and if you're looking for a part-time/minimum wage job, they can be found. The good ones....not so much. Survival means prioritizing and getting rid of things that you honestly can live without. I have unemployment benefits as well and I'm a year from paying off the car. Hopefully something materializes before then but if not, I am blessed to have help from my mum. This is a time when I'm really feeling that the whole thing is in God's hands...not mine. (wish I could be that way about EVERYTHING in life...that's a struggle! lol)

I have no health insurance right now and I think that bothers me more than anything because my allergies have been particularly bad this year...new symptoms and all. :(

Just wondering just how hard the economic down turn is affecting many of you who are living in the U.S especially as single parents... Have to say that I am not looking forward to the next 12 months here in Aus ... All a bit daunting really...

Just getting more and more in debt as time passes......but, overall, the Lord has been good to us. :thumbsup:

That's a good way to describe my situation. I certainly can't complain about things. God's been good and has been taking care of me. :thumbsup:

I'm a single mom. It's definitely gotten harder to survive. I live on a very low income as it is, barely making it BEFORE all the recession junk began. Now with gas prices up, food prices up, everything prices up...I just can't do it. I've been living on credit for the most part, which I hate, but I have no choice. God has helped us over and over and over, but I still can't keep my head above water. Everytime I pay a bill, five more pile up. You start to think "what's the point?? why am I even trying??".

:hug::pray:

i can't imagine the struggles of raising a kid or kids today. i have a hard enough time by myself and have asked that same question many times. i often wonder if it will ever get better. i'm sure it will at some point...i'm just not very patient when it comes to those kinds of things.
