  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We are supposed to emulate Christ.

When Christ saw the money changers in the temple he took a rope, twisted it into a whip, and began beating them and violently throwing over their tables. This is a clear demonstration of justice: crime and punishment. Do think Jesus should have refrained from judging them and given them hugs or something?

To belladonic-haze,

I think you are right that’s exactly what I try and do … as best I can

Well my point was that Jesus is the truth, so the more Jesus lives in us by His Spirit and word 1 Corinthians 2:13, Ephesians 1:13, John 6:53, 14 & 15, Galatians 2:5, 2 Timothy 2:25, 2 Peter 1:12, and of course 1 John 4:6 then the more I think we have the truth in us as Christians and we grow more and more in truth as we are lead by the Spirit to live out the word. Don’t you think so?

I thought beauty was in the eye of the beholder.;) In fact Pontius Pilate asked "What is truth?" directly after Jesus had told him "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

LOL....true...that is the truth...beauty, eye, beholder I mean....me is....well:doh: Anyway, you knew what I meant!

But Jesus said not much to Pilate or am I nuts now??

Why judge others while you are human as well and make mistakes as well...

(I am guilty of that as well, although I try not to judge a book by it's cover)

So do we all judge. Which doesn't mean it is ours to punish.

True...I agree, but wouldn't life be better if we approach each other with an open mind, instead of...whatever we do or say when we judge someone.

And again, I am not talking about crimes...I am talking about color, creed, lifestyle of bubblegum flavour....

Yes but in John 8 Jesus judged the woman adulterer a sinner because He told her to go and sin no more. What He didnt do was condemn her to the punishment, nor in fact did He dispute the punishment.

Jesus says that even if I look at a woman lustfully I am an adulterer and I was guilty of adultery before I became a believer and follower of Christ, so one can substitute me for the woman.

I guess it is impossible not to judge in this world, but has anyone here have an idea what I meant by this?

We all judge and have opinions about certain crimes and/or sins. But I mean judging for....and I said this so many times in this thread before; color, creed, lifestyle gender or bubblegum flavor! I never got an answer. I only have seen the gay discussion....(a lifestyle) and I know that they are judged...I disagree, but we've been there and done that discussion a million times. Do you judge someone for his or her clothes? Do you judge someone because he or she doesn't 'fit' with the norm (your norm). Do you judge a muslim woman for the way she dresses? Do you judge a biker because he wears leather jackets and tattoos of....i.e. a maked woman. Do you judge someone that somes to church in ripped jeans? Do you judge because someone is black? Do you judge someone because someone is white? Or whatever their skincolor. Do you judge someone because he/she is muslim or hindu or buddhist or whatever. Do you judge someone because he or she is atheist or Christian or Catholic or protestant or liberal or conservative or....and so on and so on...

What do you think about this kind of judging? That is what I ask......just trying it over and over again.....:p

But if we believe Jesus is the truth and Jesus judges that what people do is wrong but doesnt judge people themselves as in John 8, why would we as Christians judge people at all? An yet your examples almost all refer to people being judged. Similarly if we believe that Jesus is the truth the way and the life and His words are Spirit and life then we know that being black isn't wrong Galatians 3, having jeans ripped isnt wrong Matthew 6 & 7 etc. In th example Jesus did not condemn the woman, but judged that what she was accused if doing was wrong, He judged adultery wrong.

 rofl......you always give the same answer, but I am not talking about sin here.....just about judging. And I've been judged because I have a heart disorder, glasses and so on and I have judged as well...I am not perfect. I try not to, I feel terrible if I judge someone. But if I see three men on the street comming towards me, I judge them, my alarmbells begin to ring and I avoid them, and I do not know them. I judge to protect myself, sort of...

But is it right to judge in that way, because it happens every minute? People are judged, even beaten up because of all the things I have mentioned and more. People are even sentenced to death because they are 'different'...

One must consider what one means by judging. Say one is with a group of folks who decide it would be a hoot to roll an old lady, steal her stuff and so on... Thinking about whethor on not that is a good choice uses "judge"ment. Having pre"judical" thoughts about someone because he / she wears glasses, weighs 2.38 pounds more than Christie Brinkley, or other such pathetic notion puts one in the category of bigot. Judging, I purport, needs to be considered with motive and what it does for the one being judged.

Good point and I learned from it.....so I am talking about bigotry....It is hard to use the right words for the right situation....of course we use our conscious to make good or bad judgements......Thanks for making me see that side too....
