You're asking me what the benefit is knowing the last day of salvation? It's a warning to seek God for mercy. We're commanded to sound the trumpet:
Ezekiel 33:6
But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
I HOPE SO.....
end of the world, being given a perfect body and living in paraside forever with my fully healthy wife... sounding pretty sweet rght now.
2 Peter 3:3-4
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
These 'scoffers' are 'Christians'. Noah, Lot, Pharaoh, and Nineveh knew the exact timing of judgment. So do we.
Agreed. It was uncalled for. I have no desire for you to go to hell. In spite of everything, you are my Brother in Christ.
I strongly disagree with the scoffers mentioned in this verse as being Christians as you say. for it also says that these scoffers walk after their own lust, true christians do the things of the Lord. they must walk in the Spirit and not the flesh. just because one has cleaned the outside of the cup but not the inside as well as the scribes Jesus talked to, just because we say we are of God, go to church, give advice on christian forums, does not make one a Christian.
Christian> Christ Like> followers of Christ, "If ye love me, keep my commandments," "why call ye me Lord, Lord and do not the things I say" and on the same thought you are saying that the orginal disciples walked after their own lusts! Nay rather they forsook all and followed Christ, and they were not told. ( and even with the disciples one appeared to be a follower of Christ but was of the devil.) Christians all over the world are dying for their Belief in Christ Jesus and they have not been told!
no, my friend study some more see that in the last days they will be some that say Jesus is in the wilderness, or Jesus is over there but go not to it, for when I come I will come as a thief in the night. will the thief be successful if they give the night that they will came, the bride cometh in the night 10 was ready 10 was not. don't give into false prophecy, just be ready at all times. this is the true preaching of the scriptures!
ok let's say I am wrong by saying that no man knoweth the hour or the day, and that you are right that you know that may the 11th is the day. do you know that you will be alive come May the 11th, had God revealed to you the day and hour that you will die and has He revealed this to all Christians. and If God has not revealed to you the hour and the day that you will die , are you ready today? study to show thyself approved
Thank you Jerushabelle!
Let me pull up 2 Peter 3 again and show you why I believe they are "Christians" (quote unquote).
2 Peter 3:1-4
1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
I highlighted in red three points that make a strong case for these scoffers being "Christians" (false Christians).
1. Where is the promise of His coming?
This could be argued either way. Either these are secular people who do not believe in the His second coming or they are Christians perplexed by the timing of His coming.
2. Since the fathers fell asleep
Fathers fell asleep indicates they associate themselves with the patriarchs and apostles.
3. All things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.
This indicates they believe in God's creation described by Scripture.
I would stress that these are not true Christians, because they do mock and they are ignorant. Furthermore, in verse 8 the Word implores the "brethren" not to be ignorant - further distinctions from the wheat vs. tares.
As far as the argument goes for Christ coming to all people as a thief in the night, read 1 Thessalonians 5 and Revelation 3:
1 Thessalonians 5:1-5
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Revelation 3:3
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
The elect will watch. Therefore, Jesus will not come as a thief and the elect will know what hour He comes upon them.
If Christ does not come as a thief in the night for the elect, shouldn't we reexamine the verses that have this particular phrase in them?
I get everyone's concern for setting dates, however, I'm not here to just argue to puff myself up. I truly believe this is going to happen and it will surprise a lot of people. If anything, examine the Biblical timeline we believe in. If it's wrong, May 21st, 2011 is wrong. In a way, I'm offering a challenge to those who are skeptical.
Go to Youtube and type in: Timeline of history illustrated wmv
It's too precise and perfect for it to be false. No one has debunked this so far, but don't believe me: grab your Bible and study this video. Thanks! <3
means not that we will not know the time but that we will be ready, wouldn't You think that if the ten virgins that got left out knew the hour that they would have gotten the oil before.
Of course we won't have long to wait, to see that your prophet and video is of the devil and not of God, so I just hope that you and all others that have believed this lie and preached this lie will man up on May the 22nd and apologize to all in this Christian forum!!
You're welcome, but don't let it go to your head. I do not buy into your end time prophecy and am concerned for you and for others when/if May 21st comes and goes. How will you feel? How will others feel and what will the long standing consequences be to you and they from God's perspective? The price may be very heavy. Doesn't that concern you at all?
Actually Parables, since you are my Brother in Christ, what I would care more about (rather than an apology) is your repentance (in the truest sense of the word: turning away from) of this behavior and your promise to do all you can to reconcile yourself to the Brothers and Sisters you may have led astray by your words and actions. I will test the spirit which provided you and/or others the supposed revelation. The test result, as Hisdisciple3 and others have pointed out, is not long in coming. God always does what He says He will do. If this May 21st revelation is from God, it will stand. If not, it may be yours and others eternal undoing and I was serious when I posted that I am not desirous of your going to hell. I am not desirous that anyone should go to hell but we all are faced with choices that God has graciously given us. I pray you choose wisely and that it's not too late for you to choose on May 22nd from God's perspective. Amen.
yeah but when the cry was given it was too late to do anything, you are saying that this prophecy is for the ones to get ready, when the cry was given some were ready and some were not, the anti-christ takes his seat in the jewish temple, where is his seat, better yet where is the jewish temple, seven years has been prophecized before the great a notable day that the Lord comes. seven years that has been told as troubled times that no man has ever seen. the gospel must be published in all nations. Joel chapter 2 and acts chapter 2, the sun darkens and the Moon turns to blood, on the day of the Lord. we don't even have enough time to get seven years if it is in 2012 as some are also saying. it is false prophecy and There are many warnings against this type of prophecy in the Scriptures. Jesus the man is in south Florida. saying that there is no hell or no more punishment for sin, thousands if not milloins are flocking to his false teachings, all this false teachings and false prophecy is very disturbing because of the ones that it leads away from the truth, But Jesus Said that all these things must come about Before He comes back. open your ears and eyes people No man knoweth means NO MAN even the Christians.Matthew 25:6
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
There most certainty was an advanced warning of time for the 10 Virgins. 5 were saved and 5 were not.
When I first heard about May 21st, I was skeptical. I too thought the rapture would be in secret timing. Let me ask you a question: If May 21st does happen, how will you feel?
Haven't I already answered this question? Yes. I have.
Don't be like the 5 virgins caught off guard.
Can Satan rule in the church if there are still believers in the church? I am speaking from personal experience here because my husband is a Harold Camping follower. He has even told me that I must not be a believer as I do not believe in the timeline. He left our church after 12 years there but before he left he turned his back on all of our friends there and he wants no contact with anyone who does not believe what he believes. He said the only thing wrong with our church's doctrine is that they are not preaching about May 21st. Now I know there are Godly people in our church that have studied the Bible as long as Harold Camping. Are they not the elect because God has not opened their eyes to it. I believe not. I am choosing to love my husband through this. He has confused our kids (we are in counseling) abandoned his family. He no longer serves. It is in the Bible at least 100 times about serving others. Are you serving others or are you so focused on May 21st that the rest of the Bible is not being lived out in your life? I love my husband now, I will love him through this on May 21st and I will love him May 22nd. And I pray, without ceasing for the Holy Spirit to open his eyes to the truth in the Bible.
I just got off the road, I'm a truckdriver, and haven't read all the posts. But in some city there was a guy holding up a huge sign talking about may 21st. My first thought was, I wish I could just hang around him so on the 22nd I could say, what happened? The Lord could come before then, but to say exactly when He's coming is foolish. The bible is very clear on that. There are good reasons we don't know.
I HOPE SO.....
