  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

She seems to be saying that your words of speech and thought will control what becomes of you. To me, this is saying each of us has more control than we do.
Perhaps she is saying in her words the warning Jesus and the Father before Him said about putting our will ahead of God's. For that we are indeed responsible, and will pat dearly if not corrected or at least acknowledged and worked on.

She has talked recently about how she in the past has done things wrong in ministry. And, by the way, I think she now is saying she is something like 86, not 76!

So, yes it is possible that things she did and said are now out of date.

I hear her pretty much each day, even the same message three times in a day, at my lady friend's place. She preaches things the Bible says about prosperity and how to handle it - - - for God and how this includes being generous with others.

The Bible does have prosperity teachings, including about physical and social blessings > Mark 10:29-30.

Jesus Himself says if you give then you will get pressed down and above measure, and give and it will be given to you.

And, of course, there is spiritual and emotional prosperity which come, in my opinion, as we give ourselves to the Lord and seek and submit to Him for His correction of our character > Hebrews 12:4-14 > James 4:7 > James 5:16.

She talks about very personal things and how God has corrected her. And she does mention at times how she can question things about herself and about others.

And something she has said is that you an everyday person of Jesus could be accomplishing more with God, than she has done with all her public speaking.

My main concern about her message is how it seems to be much about you an individual getting corrected and blessed . . . and how you can control this by saying certain things and what you are thinking about yourself. It seems she might be putting too much on your own ability to think and say the right things.

She seems to be saying that your words of speech and thought will control what becomes of you. To me, this is saying each of us has more control than we do. I understand that if we have trusted in Jesus, He has us and He can cancel however we have thought or said the wrong things, but then we do need correction so we do and say and think and feel and relate how He wants.

So . . . if you share with her, test each thing. And there is so much in the Bible that she might not talk about.

And various others can have a way of not talking about as much as you can find in the Bible.

I am wondering if you think the Bible teaches if you are sick and poor that you are not blessed. That is a message that seems very contrary to what Christ said. Hardship is a blessing in the eyes of God. I halfway hope that I will be a martyr someday because it comes with a reward.

She emphasizes that we should not just criticize ourselves, but have hope of how God is able to have us doing better.

I don't.

And Joyce does not say this; I recall that she has made a point of saying people are wrong to say you are not in God's will if you are sick or poor.

However - - I would warn how we can bring things on ourselves because of not living God's way. So, I would openly evaluate, in each case.

And how we react to things can be an indication of if we are being submissive to God, in His peace with "rest for your souls" (in Matthew 11:28-30).

She has said she got cancer, I think it was, while she was once a "Word of Faith" preacher. And she plainly says she could put on an act in church while at home not relating right with her husband David. And she more than once has said she has acted like a jerk . . . recently . . . and needed to apologize to someone.

So, she has not recently made the claim that she has not sinned for years.

But she said, I think, something like this > for some time she has not let the devil and anything cause her to have an unhappy day . . . something like this.

I am glad she has the humility to realize that she can act sinfully. That itself is a very bad sin as the Pharisees seemed to have the same problem (when it came to John the Baptist and subsequent dealings with Christ).

Oh, I agree with having a good attitude. Totally! The Bible says, "Rejoice always!"

So we do not want to be prideful and say we have no sin nor do we want to tell ourselves we are a victim of circumstance.

Possibly one of her strongest things is how she tells how she was raped by her father for years and she says it was for her own good and to please God, that she forgave Him plus took good care of him in his old age.

She uses that to illustrate how one needs to not use past harms as an excuse to keep on suffering and losing in life.
