I think if they could see what advantages there are to the media, they would think it was the greatest thing since fried chicken.

But if the Lord calls you to a tv ministry, you can always say no, due to it giving you a sour taste in your mouth.;)

Just because I wouldn't do something doesn't mean that it isn't of God.
There is no way that we can understand the call of God on someone else's life.

JimM, I respect you and I consider you to be a wise man who is on fire for God. But ... I have to disagree with you on this one.

When I look at things through your perspective, I can see why you might feel the way that you do. But you must remember that God has placed a specific desire in each of our hearts. Maybe God has probably just given you a desire to have a local ministry and not a television ministry. So, there is no way for you to undertand why someone would want to be on tv. So, the only logical conclusion would be that the person is bring driven by his/her flesh.

Think a bit about other careers. Some are called to sing to the church while others are called to sing to those in the world who are lost. A person who just sings at church on sundays could easily judge a christian recording artist as being ego driven and wordly. Is it fair to compare the two groups? No.

JimM, it seems as if you are being used greatly to preach on the internet. What would you say to those who say that those who preach on the internet are just as bad as those who preach on tv?

There are some corrupt pastors everywhere but that doesn't mean that we should discredit all of them. I think that God uses all types of sources to reach the lost. Some people who would never step foot in a church could actually become saved after coming across a television ministry or after reading about salvation and the love of Jesus Christ on the internet.

Once, I heard a televangelist criticizing pastors who write books. It was funny since someone could easily criticize him for being on tv.

To him, it was ok to be on tv since God probably placed that desire in his heart. But the idea of writing a book was foreign to him, since God didn't give him that desire.

The bible talks about how we have all been given gifts ... not only are we given a different combination of gifts but some are given more than others.
Some preachers have been given a gift to write books while some have been given business skills, etc.

Thank you A*E for your kind words. I can handle rebukes like this one. We do disagree on these issues. I do not believe every desire in a believer's heart was put there by God. Some, as the Apostle told the Philippians “preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely” (1.16) or, as the Message puts it, “are merely greedy, hoping to get something out of it for themselves.” Now, I am not talking about anyone in particular but only in general terms here.

Sad truth is, there are preachers like that – there always have been - and TV is like a magnet for them. It is like the golden goose and, as evidence proves, reaps wonderful material benefits for anyome willing to exploit it.

I've seen Joyce in person only once. It was at a large church in Orlando and the place was packed. I remember the testimony of two young men who had come to know the Lord through Joyce's ministry. Both had once been gay and they had married each other. The Lord delivered them from that lifestyle. They disolved the "marriage" and were each serving the Lord in other ministries.

I feel that Joyce is called of God. Whether she's doing it all correctly I don't know...since she's human I'm sure there are still some area's God needs to work on. I however, am not called to judge the servant of another. She does not serve me noe will she have to answer to me on judgement day. I believe we need to keep our focus on Jesus and what He's called US to do instead of pointing fingers at the other servants. And personally, I see nowhere in the Bible where God has called anyone to be a revealer of others sins. Scripture tells us to confess our OWN sins, not the sins of others.

"I'm just WARNING!!!!" Hmp! That statement is looking more and more like just a fancy term for gossip and slander.

Jim,

I'm just curious. Where in the Bible does it say to tell the world about someone's sins (if they are indeed sinning)??

Lord, bless Joyce Meyer as she does the work you have set before her. Confound her accusers and let them reap their own folly.

an undeserved curse does not come to rest.

Lord I ask you to bless those who honestly desire to serve you, and confound those who are not your true servants no matter who they are or where they may be. If in fact JMM is of you, as many here think, show us the truth. In the meantime I ask your peace upon this whole thread, and those who have posted to both sides of the whole thing. May your name be praised, and may your Word be all that we believe. In Jesus Holy Name. AMEN.

I just watched one of Joyce's programs. She talked of when she first started believing God for things, when she had nothing. She prayed for things from the thrift store. :)

Pretty funny when you think about it, and where she is now. I rarely pray for things (material belongings), because I have all I need, and my needs are simple. I am used to going without things when I can't afford them. Maybe I will start praying for more things, like a new computer, or for this one to be fixed.

I did pray for $150,000 the other day, though. But, not for me. For the prayer house I want to have downtown Boise.

God bless you all.

Don’t be silly, Penumbra. No one wishes JM bad things like you have just wished to come down on people who disagree with you about her approach to ministry. Get hold of yourself. You sound like James and John wanting to call down fire on the poor Samaritans.

I really really really like Joice Meyer and have been greatly blessed by her ministry, but she had plastic surgery. I do not think that there is very much of anything wrong with plastic surgery at all so don't get me wrong, but it really seems to go against her in you face "get over it" message. She, to me, has always been the supreme example of high sself-esteem and a fountain of hapiness and optimism (something that I try to achieve and that she has encouraged me to be). But when I heard her say that she got plastic surgery so that her outside would match her inside, I was like, "Who is this and what have they done with my Joice Meyer?!" But all in all I Love her and am very thankful for her ministry and you can label me as a Joice Meyer fan.

I have already asked once that those who have nothing good to say about Joyce Meyer stay out of threads about her.

If my warning continues to be ignored then I will start giving warnings for disrupting the peace of the forum.

Thanks Quaffer. I see that you're a senior administrator here. Perhaps people either didn't see your warning earlier, or didn't understand that you're in leadership here. God bless you.

Now let me get this straight (I just want to be clear on this), Q. And don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Mrs. Meyer, personally, and know nothing about her specifically. She seems to be a rather engaging person. But by your rule, in order to post in this thread we must accept the lady in question’s teachings and lifestyle, and ignore all disapproval of her even though she is a public figure with an intrusion into our homes via the free public airwaves?

Is that a correct interpretation of your order/request?

~Jim
