  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My husband joined the Marines in 93. He served one contract, but upon leaving the Corps, was miserable and rejoined. He has been an active duty Marine for 13 years. We are both Christian. He has been in Afghanistan and Iraq, and he, himself, has not had to take a life. He used to be in artillery, but is now it is his job to either help Marines get out, or help them stay in. He is very good at his job. He will be going back to Iraq in October. He has so far only gone with air units but this time with a ground unit. He is a weapons trainer as well, so that is usually his job when overseas. He has not felt a struggle. The people that we associate with are all devoutly Christian, but Marine families as well. There are so many jobs you will be able to do that shouldn't conflict you. I pray that you are able to find exactly what you are looking for. But please don't think that all other service people are monsters due to one person's view. The kindest, most giving people in the world I have met during our years as a military family. The experience is what you make it alone. and :prayer:

Absolutely. Like 3Girls2Dogs' husband, I myself have been Active Duty Army for 13 years. I have absolutely loved it. I love the comraderie. The discipline alone is enough to make the military enjoyable.

My current position in the Army is a Recruiter. I've seen the job market out there. There really is none. Nowadays, even a college degree doesn't guarantee you the job. If you're lucky enough to land the job you want, congrats to you.

The Army, just like any other branch and just like anything in life, is what you make out of it. So far, reading through these threads, you've seen many more that have had the best years of their life experiencing the military compared to just 1 who hasn't. Take that for what it's worth.

Once again, pray about your decision. Allow God to work His will through you.

God Bless you brother.

lately ive had some thoughts of joining the army, but today at school when i told someone this i was told christians shouldnt. i seem to agree more with the side that says they can, but there are still some doubts in my mind. so i thought id ask people who had server or are serving their thoughts.

not really sure why a christian wouldn't be able to join. i'm a christian and i've been in the air force for just over a year. i think the system has some issues, but for the most part, i love it.

While I'm not a Christian, I know many people who are religious in the military, the majority in fact. You just sort of come to terms, I'm in the Air Force, and aside from my job(Security Forces) and special forces/vehicle operators, nobody else in the USAF really ever has a reason to see combat if that's what makes you unsure. You do, however, have to be willing to know how to use your weapons and take a life if you, the mission, or your fellow servicemen are in danger, that is a universal property of our military.
