John Hagee off the deep end

I just saw something on youtube today I thought people here might find interesting.

It was a video clip of a commercial where John Hagee is promoting his new book. In the clip he says his book proves that the Jews did not reject the messiah.... BECAUSE Jesus was not the messiah and Jesus never claimed to be the messiah.

For a while he has been a proponent of the idea that there is a seperate covenant, or gospel for the jews (born out of dispensationalism) it would appear he has finally gone over the edge.

Thoughts?

I'm gonna look into this. It's a bit disturbing all around. I'm not saying it's not authentic, but I generally like the sounds I am hearing the match the mouth speaking them and this is seriously off a bit. I'll see if I can find another video or something.

The audio IS off, but it is what he is saying. I learned how to read lips pretty decently over the years since having a bum left ear.

This happens a lot on our TVs when the cable signal is distorted a bit. The audio reaches the screen before the video does, and vice versa.

I'm trying to see if there's any rebuttal from Hagee out there, though, because if this isn't what he's saying, I think he would be quick to rebut it.

Unless he's saying because Jesus never outright said to the masses that He was the Messiah, the Jews had no reason to believe it...

And maybe he's saying the "Calvary Conspiracy" was about the perspective of the Romans and Herod et al. Because, actually, if they believed He was God, they wouldn't have crucified Him. So from their perspective, He was a dangerous insurrectionist.

So maybe he's just trying to juice that puppy up for the sake of sales. Hollywoodizing what it's about and word twisting its content so more people buy it. Cos it doesn't make sense that a pastor with a heart for Israel would suddenly deny Christ's divinity.

Still, if that's what he's doing, it's a dodgy way of upping sales.

Well, he's not actually denying Christ's divinity. He's just claiming that the jews couldn't deny something that Jesus never claimed.

It's hogwash all around, because there are several biblical references to Jesus claiming his station.

Lurid headlines in CCC?

Sorry, but posting a sensationalized accusation against a famous evangelist,
especially one who supports Israel, does
not impress me as how conservatives should think of the man.

Sad to see CCC become the victim of such
thread titles, like News & Current Events
forum, that seek to slur or cast doubt
about a subject that, when more closely
examined, does not support the thread
title.

As a Christian, I oppose anti-Semitism
with every fiber of my being. I will never
cease to respect the roots of my faith.

Jesus was a Jew, regardless of the reasons
that the Jews do not recognize Him as the exact Messiah that they prayed for.

A little practical common sense goes a long way to connecting us up with the Truth.

like practical common sense that when someone says Jesus isn't the Jewish Messiah, they have left the reservation?

Sis, why should we think well or ill of someone because we are conservatives?

From my interpretation of what he is saying, he is misguided at the very least, verging on blasphemous.
I've never heard of the guy before, but would be certainly not allow him to preach in our church judging by this clip.
However, I'd like to hear how he explains his beliefs, cos I may be totally misinterpreting him.

Latreia, I am interested in your thoughts about what Hagee had to say about the Jews rejecting Jesus as the messiah being impossible because Jesus never said he was the messiah.

That really is the heart of this thread. You are correct in that the title probably needs to be changed, but at the same time, I can't argue that a Christian who makes this claim even while stating that HE believes Jesus is the messiah, has indeed gone off the deep end.
