Yes I'm probably going to watch that this week or next on You-tube.

I also read the wikipedia on the original 1938 story, last week.

Who Goes There? - Wikipedia

I read WGT as well but imo, it was confusing. I felt the story was dry and flat. I read the movie novelization and that was more scarier than the movie. Plus different. If you didn't read that, I recommend you do

OK I will have to see if that is still available on Netflix streaming.

It has a similar sort of disorienting tone to it, but is much more colorful/prettier than The Thing, which I guess isn't hard to do since everything in The Thing is dark and weird and claustrophobic. I don't want to say too much more about it for free of spoiling it, but here's a trailer, in case anyone missed it when it was out:

Warning: The trailer seems like it's trying to make it look like an action movie, which is deceptive.

OK with all of the weird Thing affects, I got ask how many people here are in to H.P. Lovecraft?

(The thing is definitely reminiscent of some of his monsters and gods).

Yes, Kurt Russel comes out on top. I think everyone gives great performances, though (the dog included). I really love Wilford Brimley as Blair. How many movies would be improved by Wilford Brimley beating up a computer with an ax while screaming like a maniac? Most of them, I think.

That dog. He should had won an Oscar. Such a great performance he did. He spooked me out. Especially the scene in the picture. RIP Jed

How about the theory that Macready was testing child's at the end? It sounds pretty brilliant and makes me like the film even more, even if it is just a theory lol. It works for me.
Also YouTube "thingu" it's a mash up of the claymation cartoon pingu and the thing, pretty bizarre
