when It says in the beginning was the word…is the expresssion referring to Jesus being the living word or the third part of the trinity….the Holy Spirit being the “word”
Who became flesh and dwelt among us (Jn 1:13)?

Who appeared as a dove over Jesus head at his baptism by John the Baptist?
Whose voice spoke from heaven then?

Wouldn’t it be all three parts of the trinity in John 1:1 then

The trinity is a tricky subject, consider the plural;

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

The two main reasons for difficulty in understanding the trinity is that the only source of information we have is the bible, which does not give a detailed description. We are left to try to put puzzle pieces together and do not have all the pieces. Secondly, it would not be surprising if we are unable to understand it if we had all the information.

The bible calls four things truth, God the father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit, and the bible itself. In my experience wisdom and understanding come incrementally. As one grows in understanding, it creates an eager anticipation of what new insights may be obtained.

And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. (Genesis 3:8)

The voice of God in this verse is the "Word" that was there in the beginning.

This voice of God became flesh and lived among us full of grace and truth. Jesus Christ.

No. The point that the writer of the Gospel of John was making was to imply that Jesus was divine in nature since that question came up so often when Jesus of Nazareth came on the scene in the early 1st century. This implication is then explicated further in the first chapter of John's Gospel.

John 1:1 is definitely God the Son Who became flesh as Jesus Christ ( see John 1:1-4, John 1:14-18, see also Colossians 1:15-19, Isaiah 48:12-16).Still, the Gospel of John is the most focused on the Trinity as evident in chapters 14, 15, & 16.
