When did Joe Six-Pack American deserve to be in the Vice Presidency? Isn't that the point of the Presidency, that the President should be considerably above average?

Honestly, it reminds me of the villian from the Pixar movie, "The Incredibles". Since most people are unexceptional, no one is allowed to be exceptional.

Theoretically, any American should have the chance to become President if they so desire. That doesn't mean that all Americans are cut out to be the Chief Executive of this great nation.

No, the question is not about an experienced person, it's about a person that is good at what they do. A good doctor is a good doctor. Palin went to six colleges in six years. Obama graduated from Columbia (a great school I might add) and Harvard Law, he was editor of the Harvard Law Review, he is not average.
