This event undoubtedly got so much press by the very fact that it was so uncharacteristic of our current president.

It's more likely that it caused a stir because there's no precedent in recent memory. I cannot remember any occasion in which a president called a member of the press corps by such vulgar and insulting names right there in the press room as the conference was ending.

Compare that with the infamous tape that someone here mentioned of Trump saying in private, more than a decade before he declared his candidacy for any public office, some vulgar things about women but not about any identifiable woman. Plus, that whole thing could just have been bluster anyway.

There is a difference! And that's not to excuse anyone.

My apologies for using your post #2 as example to the OP complaining about bringing up Trump, but it happened. Trump was being discussed before I even posted for the first time in the thread. At least in my posts (and yours) we did not try to make Trump the topic, which is what the OP guy does on a regular basis in Trump threads. All Presidents have used profanities (maybe not Teddy Roosevelt) but that was before modern recordings. This thread is a giant nothing burger.

The only allegation of sexual assault against Biden is from the alleged grifter, Tara Reid, who claimed he assaulted her in public in a busy hallway; she has credibility issues, to say the least. Trump, in contrast, bragged on tape that he liked to assault women, after which 19 women came forward to confirm it. The allegations of assault span decades. A related defamation suit is still pending (Trump claimed E. Jean Carroll was lying when she accused him of rape).
