If I remember I went to a Baptist church when I was very young and we did communion I don't remember fully though.
But other than that no I have not done communion.
Ok...my knowledge on communion is limited so don't take it as word BUT...
If we look at how Jesus did communion with his disciples, that's a good example.
It was quite simple. When they came together, it was very simple. Jesus took the bread and said "This is my body which is given for you...do this in remembrance of me" and they all partook of the bread. Then he took the cup and said "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
So I don't think aside from that, there is much to it. The bread first, to remember the body, then the cup after, to remember the blood.
Also, in 1 Corinthians 11, it talks about how we should examine ourselves first...which basically means to take a good long hard look at where we are at with God and make things right with God before partaking.
I find communion to be very important because Jesus specifically said "Do this"...so I tend to treat it more like a command than anything else.
In church, we will have some praise and worship first, then when we go to do communion, one of the communion passages is read, then we have a moment to examine ourselves, then communion is served.
