Yeah. Just about a month ago I listened to a short documentary about how that was accomplished. It's unprecedented. really. Its amazing how one song about losing yourself in drink and dissolution can be leveraged into a billion dollar business empire.
Hmm. I would never. ever. have compared Margaritaville to The Lord Of The Rings. But I kinda see your point.Yeah. Just about a month ago I listened to a short documentary about how that was accomplished. It's unprecedented. really.
I think the imagery in that one short song is almost "Lord Of The Rings"-esque, in that it creates a whole world in the mind; that world of being a beach bum, something to which I myself and apparently many others have aspired. People who loved Jimmy really loved Jimmy. Interesting that he died on the first day of September, not scientifically the end of Summer, but really, the end of Summer.
Now that I think of it, Margaritaville is even better. In LOTR they just lost some stupid ring or something. In Margaritaville, the dude lost his woman AND (more importantly) his shaker of salt. I'm about to weep just thinking about it.Hmm. I would never. ever. have compared Margaritaville to The Lord Of The Rings. But I kinda see your point.
lol, in sports that's called the "hat trick".In older times I used to call it "the jackpot" when one of my cover bands got requests for Sweet Home Alabama, Brown Eyed Girl, and Margaritaville in the same night. It only happened once.
Uh no. In LOTR someone lost his woman too:Now that I think of it, Margaritaville is even better. In LOTR they just lost some stupid ring or something. In Margaritaville, the dude lost his woman AND (more importantly) his shaker of salt. I'm about to weep just thinking about it.
RIP Jimmy Buffet. He was in a league of his own. Son of a Sailor is a great song. Now that I think of it, Margaritaville is even better. In LOTR they just lost some stupid ring or something. Y'know, when you mentioned your band getting requests, I was gonna make a Led Zeppelin related joke about my band being asked to play over the hills and far away...Uh no. In LOTR someone lost his woman too:
'T was in the darkest depths of Mordor
I met a girl so fair
But Gollum, and the evil one
Crept up and slipped away with her
Her, her, yeah
But no one lost their salt. I'll give you that.
^^^many is the post that only leaves me guessing.Y'know, when you mentioned your band getting requests, I was gonna make a Led Zeppelin related joke about my band being asked to play over the hills and far away...
Along with being an entertainer and a storyteller, he was also an author and a businessman. His music helps lift peoples' moods and transports their minds far away from daily worries. That's pretty cool if you ask me, and I don't even drink. Its amazing how one song about losing yourself in drink and dissolution can be leveraged into a billion dollar business empire.
When his buddy died at age 78, Jimmy stood on stage in Nashville and said this>>>>
"Get that vaccine": "There were days when I didn't know whether or where we would ever play again," Buffett said in the show's final minutes.
"But we made it here, and I just have to thank people like this band, this crew, first responders, healthcare workers (and) the mRNA researchers who made the vaccine, and made it possible for us to play for you tonight. Get that vaccine. That's what happened. Fun is back in the world because of that."
Then, he made the vaccine mandatory for those wanting to attend his concerts....
It's Vax 'O Clock Somewhere: Jimmy Buffett welcomes fans to Blossom, if they're vaccinated or tested...
In order to attend the concert, fans are required to have received a negative COVID-19 test with 48 hours before entering Blossom or be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Fans must provide proof of either the negative test or the vaccination with either the original vaccination card, a printed copy of the vaccination card, or printed proof of the negative test.
But then... 3 months ago Jimmy had to go to the hospital for health problems....
His music is not my cup of.....tequila. But I do appreciate his respect for the power of music in peoples lives - even if its mainly escapism. I'm support that.Along with being an entertainer and a storyteller, he was also an author and a businessman.
