The church handwriting of ordinances/dogmas (church constitutions, statements of faith, church by-laws, creeds , etc) are the “principalities and powers” that the Lord “spoils”….that is, puts off. We are "dead" in our sins and the uncircumcision of our flesh....being in a "grave" that we are to be released from by His forgiveness.

Col 2:13-15 KJV
(13) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

(14) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
(15) And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

The “powers” of the church scribes’ pens have written ordinances in their own legalistic “authority” to keep us in bondage. This is the method that the devil traps us: through the keeping and serving of the supposed "authority" of legalistic handwritings of men.

They are as grave clothes that we wear when we keep and serve their “principalities and powers” by which they rule over us by. They “bind” us.

But the Lord forgives us for these things. He takes them (the handwriting of ordinances) out of our way and nails it to His cross.

He comes to take them out of our way….as a stone that is rolled away from the grave.

We were “dead” (in the grave) with sins and the uncircumcision of our flesh….but He makes us alive together with Him forgiving us of all of our trespasses in the keeping and serving of burdensome church handwritings of ordinances.

The church handwritings no longer have “power” over us and we are to triumphantly depart from them….making an open show of them. They have no power over us as we take them off. We are free of them through Christ.

He “spoils” them. He puts them off…separating us from them…as clothing that is removed. They are the “grave clothes” that are to be removed.

“Spoils” = apekduomai which means “to divest wholly oneself, or (for oneself) despoil: - put off, spoil, to strip, denoting separation from what is put off.

Col 2:13-15 KJV
(13) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
(14) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
(15) And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

He comes to help us. The meaning of “Lazarus” is “God helps”. We were “dead” in trespasses and sins….but He comes to remove the “stone” from the grave that we are in.

“Take away the stone”: He takes away the heavy burden of the keeping of ordinances that we had subjected ourselves to keeping . They were against us and contrary to us….opposing us. They were in our way as the stone that is upon the grave.

Joh 11:38-39 KJV
(38) Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
(39) Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

He makes a show of them openly as we are to “come out” from the “grave” that we were in: being dead in our sins and the uncircumcision of our flesh keeping and serving church handwritings .

Joh 11:43-44 KJV
(43) And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

We are to “come forth” and He loosens their binding influences from us and lets us go….having freedom from them in Christ. He “spoils” their “power”….stripping them off of us…so that we can truly “see” as our “face” (sight) was once obscured by the “napkin”.

(44) And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

We are to put off the graveclothes and put on the whole armor of God…. for those we leave behind in the churches of men (who still reside in the graves) will launch “fiery darts” at us for leaving.

Eph 6:16 KJV
(16) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

By putting on the whole armor of God, we can then be able to stand against the “wiles of the devil”.
“Wiles” = “methodeia” - From a compound of G3326 and G3593 [compare “method”]; traveling over, that is, travesty, (trickery): - wile, lie in wait.

The “wiles” are the “method” that the devil uses to trick/deceive people.

It is the method of using legalistic church handwriting of ordinances that are highly revered by men who rule by them. They are in “high places”. They are the “principalities and powers” that we wrestle against.

Eph 6:11-13 KJV
(11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
(12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(13) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

The rulers of the darkness of this “world”…that is, age…rule over people via the handwriting of ordinances that are considered the “authority” over those who are subjected to it.

Their government is removed from us….just like Shebna who hewed for himself a tomb on high. He “engraved” a habitation for himself. Shebna was "over the house".

The same thing is going on today in the churches of earthly-minded men who have their “graven images”…their exalted handwritings to rule over and entomb people with.

They are the rulers of this dark age...spiritual wickedness in high places in the churches of men. They are "puffed up" in their fleshly minds. See Colossians 2:18. "Puffed up" = phusioō which is from "phusis" which means "to grow". It is interesting that Shebna also means "growth" as in "puffed up". :

Isa 22:15-19 KJV
(15) Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,
(16) What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, t
hat thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?

(17) Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.

Yet, Jesus rolls away their power and makes a show of them openly. They lose their government over us.

(18) He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.
(19) And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.

They lose their government over us and the government then is given to Jesus Christ as symbolized by “Eliakim”.

Isa 22:20-22 KJV
(20) And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:
(21) And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand:
and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

(22) And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
