I don’t think the Scriptures are misleading us - if we start at the beginning of the Bible, it is the 2nd person of the Trinity that is appearing and speaking to man - and this second person is called the angel of Yahweh, angel of God, angel of the Presence, prince of the armies of Yahweh, etc

There are a couple of occasions in the OT where it is thought that a heavenly being who is described as "an angel of God", or "someone who looks like a god", was in fact an appearance by the pre-incarnate Christ - e.g the 3 men who were flung into the fiery furnace, and one of Abraham's visitors. True, there are times when angels appear and it is not the pre-incarnate Christ. However, there are times when the pre-incarnate Christ appears, and it calls him an angel, such as the angel of Yahweh appearing in the bush and telling Moses he is God/Yahweh

The pre-incarnate Christ was called El-Shaddai, the Word of Yahweh, and even Yahweh in the Old Testament, yet when we refer to him now, we call him by his human name. It doesn’t change what/who he was prior to Him becoming a man.

I see no Scriptural evidence for this, only supposition.

You acknowledge that Christ was in fact an angel in the OT, yet you have no problem distinguishing him from the other angels now that is he a human being.

that is why it’s not problematic for me that Michael is another name in the OT for Christ, because Christ was called an angel, yet he is above all other angels.


From what I’ve seen, most people that think Christ is Michael believe that Michael and the Angel of Yahweh are the same person, not that there’s a distinction between the 2.

people tend to reject this idea of Christ being Michael at first because of the preconceived notion of who Michael is, based off of doctrine, and not on what the scriptures actually say.

If Jesus were St. Michael the Archangel, why did none of the holy Apostles, none of the fathers, no one in the ancient history of the Church believe this to be the case? Instead, Michael is always regarded as just one of the archangels, a creature, subordinate to God.

I may not have made it clear - sometimes in the OT the term "angel of the Lord" is used. Some people think this MAY in fact refer to a brief appearance by the pre-incarnate Christ.

That is not at all the same as saying that in the OT, when they write "angel" they mean Jesus.

ONE God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
God the Father created everything in the heavens and on the earth. He did this through the Word, when the Spirit of God was present, Genesis 1:1-2, John 1:1, John 1:14, Colossians 1:16. Note, "all things in heaven and on the earth", created by him and for him. Revelation 5:11 describes thousands of angels circling the throne of God, singing praises to the Lamb of God.

it makes more sense that it should be translated first of the chief princes, because Michael is the highest ranking angel/messenger, which is why he is called THE archangel.

Let's think about this for a minute. It sounds like you're asking me to disregard this verse in every bible I have and replace its meaning with your own.

One of the most-heretical notions of the SDA & JW cults is that Jesus and the archangel Michael are one & the same. Let's post BIBLICAL PROOF that notion is false !

God had Jude write, in Jude 9, Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

But Jesus said, & had written in John 8:44,
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

So we see, while Michael didn't dare revile Satan, JESUS didn't hesitate to ! That's because, as Lord & God, He has that authority, while Michael does not. Very definitely, Michael is not Jesus, nor is Jesus Michael.

Let me just for the record state that the position of JWs and SDA's on this is slightly different in how they arrive at this. JWs believe that Jesus is a created beign. SDA's do not believe that. SDA's believe that whenever Jesus takes on the role of leader of the angelic armies, his title is Michael the Archangel. One of the evidences for this is Daniel 12:1 where it says that Michael shall stand up for "his" people. Michael is also referred to as the great prince. Well Daniel 9:25 or 26 refers to Jesus as Messiah the Prince. Jesus is also called the Prince of peace. However, its all terms and titles. I don't think its that much of a big deal in the case of SDAs because its not bringing Jesus down to the level of an angel. JWs clearly believe that Jesus is not divine and not God and that is dangerous.
