We are to resist Satan, not to ignore him. However, we shouldn't give him attention more than we should unless he is getting in the way of us staying focus on God.
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. (1 Peter 5:8-9 NASB)
So basically, if Satan talks to us, dismiss him. Do not listen to him or to have a conversation with him. If he attacks us, simply bind his power and command him to leave in the name of Jesus Christ, then leave everything in God's hands. God has given us the Holy Spirit and the authority over demons.
Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.” (Luke 10:19-20 NASB)
