  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Jeff A benner, it was a nice surprise to see you post here.

I'm also very interested in the ancient Hebrew language and other ancient languages and how they relate to Gods Word.
I came across your site looking to learn about the ancient Hebrew language, and asked for opinions here on you.
I did think you might be known here, but you didn't seem to be, but now some do know you, only maybe didn't know you as Jeff Benner.

I think i may have been given good advice here, as to learn the basics first.

I have been considering getting bibleworks 6 software
http://www.bibleworks.com/whatsit5.html#CD Contents

Would maybe this be easier or am i better sticking with books?
They do seem to have respected material to help in learning the language, don't they?

debi b, i'm still learning the material you've given me, i'm getting the hang of it though.

Shalom Lay Down All;

As someone posted earlier, the wonders of the internet :) . I have been active in a few forums as well as paltalk and have visited this forum but never posted before.

I use Bibleworks software and love it. It is handy for looking up things fast as well as doing studies. While the bibliworks software is not designed for learning Hebrew, it is a big help as all the meanings of words, roots, nouns and verbs and their tenses are right there.

What level of Hebrew are you at and how far do you want to go with your Hebrew studies? In other words, what is your goal?

I've only just got the hang of the Hebrew alphabet and haven't long started to learn vocabulary.

My goal would be to get a clearer understanding of Gods Word, to know that i or others have not twisted parts to suit us, and so that in future i may beable to help others with what God has taught me, in truth and not caught up in any false teachings of His Word, which i think is flooding this world today.

I think our english translations have served us well, but think today the meaning of words are being twisted to what the individual wants them to say and not how they were originally written for our benefit in serving and gloryfying God.

I think God can reach us through any language, but with so many today twisting His Word, i think it is a big help to know the original languages so we are better equiped to help others who've been falsely led.
