Exactly what part of these do you refer to? Hollywood movies mostly show men being masculine and women being feminine. Fashion is usually the same, though there are some weird fashion designers. The LGBTQ community doesn't seem to be any different.
Look it. It’s been a big influence in culture since the beginning of the 21st century. I’m dealing with bronchitis and I do not have the patience for this tactic just for the sake of arguing.

I can't look up what doesn't exist. I watch movies, TV, etc. It's not a problem in Hollywood. It know lots of people associated with the LGBTQ community and I haven't seen it with them.

Vice President J.D. Vance said he believes mainstream culture in the U.S. is attacking masculinity and, as a result, is creating large numbers of “androgynous idiots.”

At the Conservative Political Action Conference gathering in National Harbor, Maryland, on Thursday, Vance was interviewed on the main stage by conservative activist Mercedes Schlapp.

When Schlapp asked Vance what message he had for young men in America, the vice president responded that he believes “our culture sends a message to young men that you should suppress every masculine urge.”

Continued below.

I'm surprised that JD Vance is a believer that gender exists as something distinct from biological sex.

I'm retired but it isn't all over the place.
It sure is. Gender fluidity/non-binary is equated with androgyny. It about breaking down gender barriers. Everyone looks and thinks the same. Although most nowadays are just exploring it, it still influences society. Again, look it up. Lots of interesting reading on it. Not going to debate it any further. Google it.

No, it's not cool. In fact it's the opposite of cool. But it is anti-woke. And that is why we elected Donald Trump. To fix grocery prices and un-woke-ify America. Because the left has been destroying America with things like love, kindness, compassion, and promoting evil ideologies like, do good to others, and show people basic decency, and don't cheat on your spouse with a porn star.

Donald Trump is going to make America great again. By undoing all those horrible woke things, like civil rights for minorities, and treating women like human beings created in God's image. And then men will be men again, and perfectly able to abuse their wives and girlfriends without any repercussions. You know, like the good ol' days.

Sorry, I suppose I should take JD Vance and the Trump administration more seriously.

Maybe you should. Without the snark. Got to deal with what you got and concentrate on how you can improve it. Not make it worse.

No I support reality. You are out of line.

Making fun of MAGA is out of line?

Is this where I get reported for not bowing down and licking Donald Trump's shoes?

Monks live their manhood and do not deny it. It’s called chasity.
Nobody has a clue what monks are doing behind closed doors sexually

We have all seen the sexual outcomes in denominations that don't allow their priest's leaders to marry?

What about public schools? Protestant Churches?(A rash of that lately). Married men molesting family members and children of friends? If you think marriage cures the problem, you do not know enough about the problem.Jesus did not marry either. Neither did Paul. Nuns do not deny their sex either but live out chastity.

From the OP's article:

“My message to young men is, don’t allow this broken culture to send you a message that you’re a bad person because you’re a man,” said Vance. “Because you like to tell a joke, because you like to have a beer with your friends, or because you’re competitive.”

I made some bad jokes in this thread, jokes which were offensive.

I find it interesting that JD Vance mentions telling jokes as why culture is telling young men "you're a bad person".

Perhaps Vance had in mind knock knock jokes, or why the chicken crossed the road. But did he really mean that?

What kinds of jokes is Vance talking about? What are the jokes that end up getting men in trouble?

I chose to use satire to make a joke about chastity--the joke was at the expense of those sorts of people who tend to make homophobic jokes, and who believe in all that alpha man nonsense. It really offended people in this thread.

What confuses is me is why? What did I say that was offensive? Was it the content of the joke itself? If so, then doesn't that mean that Vance is wrong? And that it's not a broken culture that is critical of jokes which punch down--this is actually an improvement culturally, that we should be respectful.

I guess I'm really confused by the outrage. Unless the outrage isn't the material, but the fact that I'm making fun of homophobes, the fact that I'm making fun of the anti-woke people.

It's really hard to take any of this seriously. It really seems like the conservative MO is make fun of all the silly libs, accuse everyone who calls out something as offensive as a "triggered leftist" and "snowflake".
It genuinely is coming across as, "Hey, you're supposed to be our whipping boy, you're not allowed to make fun of us". And, so you'll have to excuse me if I have a hard time pretending like any of this is supposed to be a serious discussion.

None of this is a serious discussion. There are very un-serious people in power.

The only thing serious about this is that the idiots in charge have real power, and so they are going to do real harm to real Americans.

You're very confused if you have to ask. You probably should stop now before you dig yourself deeper

I'm asking your opinion.

I already know that homophobia is bad.

Maybe it's the hypocrisy we've got a problem with and what you accuse the right of doing is exactly what the left does.
Disagree with them? You're a homophobe, you're a racist.
And "hey it's okay for me to make gay jokes because I'm trying to prove a point " really doesn't cut it

And… if I may add, no real attempt at any meaningful discussion. Just a ready to rumble attitude. This is the Christian section of debate. Not the secular section.

Strange how a person who is obviously educated has to resort to crude jokes and disrespect to make his point .
