  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Guys, how is teaching that homosexuality leads to a corrupt life, or that works alone (yes works not faith) will get you into heaven, or that God can do wonderful things to our lives when we become saved, wrong? Im curious as how you come with this conclusion?? Is this against Catholic teachings or something, Im really confused about this.
Because that s what Satan does, his tactic. He doesn’t come out with the horns and pitch fork, he has to trick you, lure you in.

How does he do that? He gives you a bit, a speck of truth and mixes it with lies. It is impossible to accept Christ but reject His Church and this is exactly what Chick does. He conspires to have you accept Christ and reject/hate His Church, which is His bride.

Is Chick a willing participate in Satan work? We can’t know. He may just be really duped and may not know what he does, that is why we really need to pray for him, forgive him and anyone who fall victim to this trap of Satan.

Yeah, Jack Chick has some skewed views of Catholicism, but, some of his comics are very truthful. At least we know that some good is coming from this person.
Satan is not above quoting scripture, remember he can appear as an angle of light.

"Satan may use truth 98% of the time - it's the small 2% we need to worry about, as Sacred Scripture says, the prince of darkness will not come as a monster, but as a wolf in sheep's clothing." - Bishop Sheen

And what did he do to tempt Jesus in the dessert? Quote scripture.

I stand fully against Jack Chick after getting a comic book in to the Christian bookstore where I work. It had priests at a mass with Swastikas and pentagrams on the walls! And this was on the cover where any child could have seen! Thankfully, everyone on staff at our Protestant store was very repulsed by it, and we refused to stock it.

It's no way to treat our brothers and sisters in the Lord. I am not saying everything he says is wrong, but he has a very hateful agenda. Why bother picking out the few grains of wheat among the abundance of chaff?

I'm certaintly no fan of Chick, and think reading his comics can be sinful, but I also hope Jesus doesn't grow tired of us and say what you said just now ;)

Man, have you guys been duped.

Chick's initials - JTC - stand for "Jesuit Treachery Coordinator."

Chick is secretly a Jesuit operative. For years his job has been to produce tracts that are so ridiculously venomous that they inspire pity for Catholics in the minds of Protestants. That pity leaves the unsuspecting Evangelicals open to Catholic influence. Clever bit of reverse psychology, eh?

I know, for you see, I was once a liturgical dancer held captive in a demon-haunted Bingo Hall.

That is, until I was rescued by ALBERTO !!!

(But not before he asked for my Visa Card number and expiration date.)

Bcause… just because this person can print some-thing true, it is still a truth out of it’s context so, so what? He says some- thing that is true, so? That doesn’t mean he is truthful, or good, or even “saved.”

And we bother because as you can see from this forum alone there are those who believe his lies because he may say one thing that is true. They assume what he says about the Church is true and it isn’t, it’s a lie.

Emphasis mine because this is the point I wish to address.

God can do wonderful things in our lives when we become Christian (I'm reluctant to use the word "saved" for theological reasons we can discuss via PM if you'd like.) You might be inright, outright, upright, downright happy all the time (to quote a Vacation Bible School favorite) from the time you accept Christ until the moment you die. But, you probably won't be. Your job may still get on your nerves, you may still be ugly. Your wife might leave you even if you turn everything around, and your kid might never forgive you. Your outward life may not be changed at all, and it could possibly be worse than it was before (for instance, you could lose your job because of your new religion, or get thrown in a concentration camp.)

If someone reads that tract and says "My life sucks. If I get saved, everything will be great." and then they "get saved" and their life isn't instantly great, they are going to feel cheated. They're not going to stick to Christianity, because in their eyes Christianity didn't do what it was supposed to do.

My parish's unofficial philosophy is "You fall down, you get back up. You fall down, you get back up." etc. That's what our walk with Christ is. We'll all fall down, but our faith helps us get back up. This tract tells folks that they can get up and never fall down again, which is misleading and damaging.

You just remined me of a story I read on the Journey Home web page. IT describes what you have just said to a "T". There was this guy he was married had children he kept changing churches. Up rooting the whole family time and time again. Till they got sick of it. His wive divorced him left with the kids. He had no job no family. Then he finally started to come to the RC. He has a job and a house now.
