If I go to a Star Wars forum, I'd expect them to be fans of Star Wars. Some might also be fans of Star Trek, some might be tolerant of Star Trek fans, but it would be foolish for me to think I could argue against Star Wars on a Star Wars forum and find a friendly reception.
Sure, but then would you then conclude that Star Trek fans have a bigger issue with Star Wars than Star Wars fans have with Star Trek?
That was the original point of the OP, that atheists have a bigger issue with Christians than the other way around. I can say that based on my own experience on this forum, I don't believe that to be entirely true. This is why I'm suggesting it cuts both ways.
It's good practice.Nonbelievers come here to argue, so we argue back.
This is my only regret. I remind myself: If things had been different, the only thing you'd know is that things could be different. You wouldn't know about this path in this reality. So pondering for too long on this is a waste of time.As an ex-Christian, I am still a little angry that I believed Christianity for so long, and the continued existence of Christian faith in others reawakens this anger.
Christian conversion is always a work in progress, and a full lifetime is needed to really get it. Conversely atheism can be fully embraced and understood immediately at just about any age. No effort needed.
That said and speaking for myself only what I say on these boards bears only some resemblance to what I do in real life. For the most part my involvement here is an interesting diversion. In fact some arguments here, if held face to face, would certainly escalate to......fisticuffs.![]()
...that atheists are more distressed about the belief of Christians than Christians are about the disbelief of atheists (on these boards). Thoughts, from either side?

If atheists would view everything in a strictly rational manner, they would simply ignore Christians. Not sure why they get so upset about poor *deluded* Christians, but there have been many incidents where they have aggressively opposed Christianity....that atheists are more distressed about the belief of Christians than Christians are about the disbelief of atheists (on these boards). Thoughts, from either side?
You are perfectly correct. This thread should be placed where it belongs. Perhaps "Controversial Theology".I don't see what this has to do with either creation or evolution.

Sorry about that. What's your address? I don't know how I missed your house, but I will correct the oversight.Once again, when you have a segment of the population influencing policy-making for religious reasons, it's a little difficult to just ignore them. Particular when said policies impact those outside of that particular segment. Opposition to gay marriage is a perfect example.
Then there are Christians in society who openly evangelize to non-believers. I've had a few different Christian organizations show up at my door over the years (JW's usually being an annual event). I've never had an atheist come to my door to preach atheism however.
The first paragraph, is pure opinion.
How each person reaches the conclusions they do, is specific to each person's psyche. If reality has taught us anything, it is that people will have wildly differing beliefs and or non-beliefs and we know there are countless theological beliefs.
I fully expect people to have a wide range of beliefs. The interesting part, is how folks judge others who disagree with them, whether they leave any chance open they may be wrong and specifically how they justify their personal beliefs. That, is interesting to me.
I don't see what this has to do with either creation or evolution.
Atheists don't have any god. But that is something human must have to stabilize one's mind. So, they attack people who has god in order to get some relief.
