The Israeli military has released the results of the investigation into the attack on Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. ...The investigation revealed that an anti-tank gun was used in the attack, although a more targeted weapon was initially planned to limit damage to the target area.
AI Overview

Key findings from the IDF's preliminary investigation:
  • Unauthorized tank fire: Hebrew media reported that the use of tank shells, which ultimately killed a Reuters cameraman and other civilians, was not approved by Southern Command as the situation was not considered an immediate threat. This suggests a breakdown in the chain of command, which the IDF Chief of Staff has instructed for further investigation.
  • Questioned rationale: The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) noted that the IDF's report failed to explain why a tank fired on a location used daily by visible journalists, or why a second strike was authorized despite first responders being present.

The Israeli military has released the results of the investigation into the attack on Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. According to the report, a Golani Brigades unit discovered a camera installed by Hamas that monitored the movements of Israeli soldiers. Based on the assessment that the facility was being used as an observation and control device for enemy activities, authorization for the attack was granted. The goal was to neutralize the threat without extending the operation to civilian areas. Naturally, challenges arise in coordinating and approving military operations in densely populated areas. Hamas systematically misuses civilian facilities for military purposes, making it difficult to distinguish between combatants and civilians. The fatigue and overload of the troops, which can lead to misjudgements, must also be taken into account. The investigation revealed that an anti-tank gun was used in the attack, although a more targeted weapon was initially planned to limit damage to the target area. Don't Hamas members have cameras and press vests? Six of the fatalities were Hamas militants.

...and you think using large explosives is the responsible method for dealing with a camera?

This is the same country that brilliantly blew up Hezbollah mobile phones in Syria...remotely. Israel most certainly could have taken out a camera with other means....if they had the will to do so!

Israel committing genocide in Gaza, world’s top scholars on the crime say

The resolution said the IAGS recognised that “since the horrific Hamas-led attack of 7 October 2023, which itself constitutes international crimes”, the government of Israel had engaged in systematic and widespread crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide, including indiscriminate and deliberate attacks against the civilians and civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, homes and commercial buildings, of Gaza.

Out of the International Association of Genocide Scholars’s (IAGS) 500 members, 28% took part in the vote. Of those who voted, 86% supported the resolution. The resolution states that “Israel’s policies and actions in Gazameet the legal definition of genocide in article II of the United Nations convention for the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide (1948).”

Now that an expert consensus is forming, this will be accepted as readily and universally as anthropogenic climate change.

And neither have you
I agree. I am 100% on the side of Israel because they are doing everything tgey can to prosecute a just war against an EVIL enemy. Its the EVIL enemy that is causing the issues and its their actions that are resulting in whatever problems there might be. I dont believe evil propaganda from an evil group.

I don't doubt at all that there have been individual instances of Israeli soldiers doing unjust things. It happens in EVERY WAR. But its not the goal or purpose of the war. The war is just and Israel is doing what they can to prevent casualties while fighting an EVIL just wicked enemy who's desire is to cause as many civilian deaths as possible.

Hamas should surrender and leave. That would end the war. As long as they remain Israel will continue to fight.
Hamas even still holds hostages. Genocide is on their own evil hands.

Do these scholars believe in the concept of "evil"? I doubt if they do! I wonder if they understand that many [not all] of the Palestinians will *never* stop attacking Israel until the end of the world.

...Because pure evil never "stops".

Scholars who specialize in the genocide don't believe in evil? What makes you think so? Genocide is widely recognized as an evil thing, and genocide scholars are not apologists for genocide (except for the Holocaust deniers, but they are not really scholars).

These so called scholars apparently dont have a clue what a genocide is. Because genocide isnt happening in Gaza.

Or perhaps you don't.

Genocide is the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group in whole or in part, as defined by the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. It involves acts such as killing members of the group, causing serious harm, inflicting conditions calculated to cause destruction, preventing births, or forcibly transferring children. The term was coined by Raphael Lemkin, derived from the Greek "genos" (race) and Latin "cide" (killing), and it is a crime under international law.

Key Aspects of Genocide
  • Intent to Destroy: The most crucial element of genocide is the specific intent to destroy a targeted group.

    • Protected Groups: The definition applies to national, ethnic, racial, and religious groups.
    • Specific Acts: The convention lists five prohibited acts that, if committed with genocidal intent, constitute genocide:
        • Killing members of the group.
        • Causing serious bodily or mental harm.
        • Deliberately inflicting conditions of life intended to bring about physical destruction.
        • Imposing measures to prevent births within the group.
        • Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

So then why were the scholars silent when Palestine was waging their genocide against Israel?

They only speak up when their preferred side begins losing. But I guess that's the tactic needed for the Palestinians to formulate a new plan for genocide against Israel. Because that's their only goal.

The very first sentence I quoted recognizes the crimes committed by Hamas.

The resolution said the IAGS recognised that “since the horrific Hamas-led attack of 7 October 2023, which itself constitutes international crimes”.

They only speak up when their preferred side begins losing.
Why would you think an organization started by Holocaust scholars would prefer the Palestinians?

why would or wouldn't they? Do you think the Jews are all Nationalists like the Palestinians tend to be? Nope, there is no equality in customs between the Jews in general and the Palestinians, and there's no equality either between the customs of Israeli's and the Palestinians. They're not the same. Not alike.

This is a good point for people to see how compassionate the Jews are compared to those trying to wipe them off the earth.

I would think Holocaust scholars have a good grasp of what antisemitism is, and they would be mentally prepared to avoid swallowing any antisemitic propaganda when assessing the situation in Gaza. This gives them a better chance to evaluate the situation honestly, and not overly favorable to Hamas in the conflict.

Well, I've seen other compassionate people bend over backwards here and in Europe for what they perceive to be "humanitarianism". but humanitarianism can become a rabbit hole, that people get stuck in, and once stuck in there, they don't see some other important factors that they should be seeing.

The biggest, most important factor being missed here is that there is a raw kind of evil persistently coming from Palestine, which seems to never end... It is eternally hateful, and can never stop... It's a real problem!

Realistically, the Palestinians are acting A LOT like the Nazis did back in the 1930's. It's like part 2 in a series of events. Or perhaps more like part 4 or 5 if you include ancient times history.

Yes, we all understand how empathy is a wicked thing.

What? Annexing land that doesn't belong to them? Building walls around the undesirables and restricting their food rations?

You can only get attacked so many times before *consequences*. If you attack me 1500 times in 50 years, I'm gonna do something to you.

Maybe I'll even confiscate your land! Maybe that won't stop you from attacking me, in which case I have to do something else. You see how this works.
