I would also argue that, from a Christian standpoint, those who were contemporaneous with Jesus Christ would attest to the possibility of seeing God.

chuckleOne logical explanation as to why we can't see god is that he doesn't exist. Other explanations just come across as excuses.
From a Christian point of view it wouldn't be strictly true to say we see God face to face. God has no face. It means we see Him much more clearly for what He is. Death would be conceived on just as the end of the beginning. The stepping from one life into the next. We die to our earthly body to be born again in the next.
