hi i have learnt today that muslims are planning a march saying they are oppressed by britain / christians etc the march is on 15 th june they are going to march to downing street.i heard there will be a counter demo protesting about islamic terrorism so i was just wondering what others thought of this?

I have not heard of such a march (some more info would be appreciated) but if they are marching then at least democracy works and they have the freedom to do so. As much as I love my Muslim friends, who incidentally I know will not waste their time on such a march, they also appreciate that in certain parts of the world it would be very difficult to protest openly about anything.
I guess that just goes to show how open we are to people articulating their concerns, frustrations etc.... Of course the anti - PC brigade will no-doubt cry foul and start throwing their toys out of the pram, but if people want to protest, so long as it's done in a peaceful manner more power to them

yea i agree to a point but they also want the 7 /7 bombers who were jailed to be released dont think that is right!!

Yeah I have had the misfortune to see some of the stuff they have on their blog. I guess it goes back to my previous point. Both these kinds of organisations, however unpalatable they seem, have the absolute right to protest or counter-protest. I'm not too concerned about this march because the BNP and fundamentalist groups have marched before and will continue to do so. It's their way of letting us know they still exist. They feed off the publicity they get and without it they are just marginal groups on the fringe of society who have nothing constructive to say.

i agree with you but both groups having a demo at same time/place means there will be violence in the capital city where innocent people could be hurt.

why is it a recipe for disaster? 700 is nothing. besides, they have the right, i'm a little worried about the NF and having a bit of an oldham going on but it's their democratic right to protest about anything. The NF have a right to demo against thier demo too. just hope they all keep to thier side of the street and not get all stupid. the police can deal with this properly anyway.

muslims marching nf/bnp on streets = disaster if bnp stir up a bit of trouble and muslims respond then bnp will get more support dont you think.remember what happened in bradford etc do we really need that in our capital city?

bradford was differnt, the NF attacked in the heart of the muslim section of the city, people were coming out of thier houses. london will be 700 people, with a load of cops then some NF scum on the other side. I have been in protests that the police were anticiotaing and they surrounded and trapped us for 10 hours, it was very clever. they can deal with this stuff if they know it will happen, oldham was quite spontanious. and also as i said, in the heart of a muslim area.
