• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

a terrorist army that is taking territory and holding it

we have not seen anything like this, not even Al Qaeda at its height was like this

this is a unique problem

one that also speaks to a powerful motivation in the arab imagination and represents a group that has recently been ousted from power.....

yeah, this is NOTHING like ANYTHING we have seen before

All the pictures they're posting of saying "Isis is here" in Chicago and in front of the White House, we just don't know if it's people being stupid or if they really are in America.
So basically, whichever it actually is, they need to hire a new marketing team...

What do I think of these animals? Put boots on the ground and terminate every last ISIS member with extreme prejudice.

yeah, this is NOTHING like ANYTHING we have seen before

We've seen it before.

Hateful cowards that hide their face.

They may be more hateful and violent, but nothing new.

I say we let them control an area, evacuate non supporters.....

And........

Yes, once the innocents have left, send a couple of ICBMs their way, and turn their dictatorship into glass and ashes.

Wow. These posts... They don't sound like something a Christian has any business saying.

Im a Christian, but Im not going to pretend like the world wouldnt be better off without this group on it.

You cant reach those people, reasoning is pointless. Some times people DO need to be taken out. Its not pretty, but its true. When those people enjoy evil deeds and they enjoy harming innocents, you cant change their minds over tea.

ISIS is what happens when you have a group of religious people who think it is their duty to lay down God's law, but don't realize what that law requires: perfection in thought and deed. As a result, you have sinners arbitrarily picking on some sins but not others, and chucking stones about it. Islam doesn't create better people; it just creates more rules (especially for women.)

No, we should just love and tolerate them as they torture and murder innocent women, children, and men, then come to do the same to us. No need to use force to stop their crimes right? We should just turn the other cheek while they destroy the world. I'm sure Christ would be all for that right?

ISIS' activities are horrific, but to say they are unreachable, sir, is testing the arm of God. Are you familiar with Ninevah's depravity? And yet the city repented.

Certainly, God will sort out ISIS one way or another, but my reading of Christ's message in the gospels is to pray for the repentance of these lost and wayward children. Even if we cannot see an earthly result of our travail, is this legitimate reason to do differently than our Saviour said?

I say bomb them. The only language they know is through violence and killing. Islam is not a religion of peace..we need to rid the world of these evil people.
Understood and agreed. You're not the only person who wishes the Holy Father would act as the Urbans and call the faithful to battle against the infidel.

Well, isn't it what Christ told us to do? Unless you have signatures and avatars hidden, there's no reason in the world you can't tell this issue affects me on a personal level. I've mentioned it in the What's On Your Mind thread on several occasions.

I see no problem in using military force in order to defend people from being murdered, but we should realize that ultimately we are in a spiritual war and bombs can't conquer the devil in the long term.

I'm not saying you don't care about the genocide victims, but all it takes for evil men to prosper, is for good men to do nothing. Personally, I would love to see the full millitary might of the United States unleashed on ISIS, and watch every last one of those murdering scumbag cowards wiped from existence. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't care if it's Christ-like or not. These vicious criminals can't hurt anyone if they're all dead.
