Is YEC science? Is is even really a theory?

A theory is an idea or group of ideas, and their predictions must have been repeatedly verified. YEC is a religion, not a theory.
Then why does academia request evidence for their claims?

Asking if the biblical creation story is science is like asking if the resurrection of Christ is science. How can a miracle be science? Everyone know science starts with a naturalistic assumption and then proceeds to try to find only naturalistic answers. ;)

I suppose whether or not ID is "science" is another matter. But as far a YEC I think the point is nothing in science contradicts it.
More like everything in science contradicts yec

Because they present it as a useful explanation.

YECers are simply being asked to use their ideas to get consistent results, and they fail every time.

Of what? God speaking the earth into existence?

You expect "independent consistent results" of that in lab experiments?

How many earths should be consistently created ex nihilo in how many independent laboratories before science would be satisfied?

Of how the world actually works.

That's why you don't see YECers using YEC ideas to find oil reserves.

Ya ... and I lost my car keys, and you won't see me using the Two Moon Hypothesis to find them.

Of course, the difference is that the location of oil deposits would be drastically different depending on if YEC were true or not.

Would you care to explain how the two moons hypothesis being true or not makes any difference to the location of your car keys, or were you just saying any old thing and hoping it was relevant?

I'm a little rusty on YEC theology.

Do you mind telling me where YEC predicts oil should be found?

Because there has not been enough time for it to form. Come on, AV, this is basic stuff.
Sorry.

The word "predicts" threw me off.

Interesting that God can make an entire universe in six days; but He can't make oil?

Interesting how he could have made the universe any way at all, but he chose to make it in the exact way we'd expect it to be if he hadn't done anything and instead natural forces were responsible for everything.

Right -- you can't even tell me how we got our moon.

There are what? some seven to ten different theories now?

And if all of science's expectations had come to pass, we wouldn't be here discussing this.

If the Flood was true there would be a uniform distribution of fossil fuels.

I think that I have told you at least seven (and perhaps ten) times that the favoured hypothesis for the last 40 years is that the Moon was formed from the material ejected by a collision between the Earth and a Mars-sized planet. The pre-Apollo hypotheses (that the Moon was formed by rotational fission, that it was captured from a heliocentric orbit, and that the Earth and the Moon were formed together in the same pre-planetary dust cloud) have long since been rejected.
