The Cross is the definitive symbol of Christianity. You see a cross and you know what it represents. I agree that one should not rely on wearing a cross for protection any more than someone should wear a St. Christopher medallion for the same reason. The symbol doesn't protect you like a rabbits foot. However, that being said, the Cross is where I take my sins and lay them down before he who died for them. I look to the cross every Sunday when I confess my sins to God and ask forgiveness for them.

Every Christian Church in America should have a cross in their church and yes it will be offensive to outsiders. The Cross is a divisive symbol and is not meant to win friends and influence people. There is a movement going on in American Evangelicalism to remove the cross from churches because it might be too offensive. I disagree wholeheartedly with this movement.

Greetings everyone!

I wear a cross from time to time and I personally love the celtic cross myself and it is what I choose to wear.

Some people do not like crosses either because they believe it is an occultic symbol or because it was the death device on which the Lord died.
But I personally have not problem with it.

Paul even boasted in the cross!

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world was crucified to me, and I to the world.

Another interesting verses about the cross...

1 Cor 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us being saved it is the power of God.

and as mentioned a post above where Jesus said to take up our cross and follow Him.

So wear your cross and be a great light for our Lord!

By the way, each of us Christians on this forum have a cross under our name in one form or another. :)

But there may be some that come on here and attack wearing a cross. That is fine if that is what they believe. But I will continue to wear mine and keep on loving the Lord.

Many blessings to you this day/night!

Do you worship the image of the cross? If not, no.

Nope. I originally started wearing a cross in grade school, but it had nothing to do with religion. Some of my favorite rock stars like Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Ion Gillian of Deep Purple, guys from Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many others wore big silver crosses and I thought it looked really cool. I started wearing big silver crosses because I liked the way they looked on me and til this day I still wear big silver crosses.

I really don't care if anyone has a problem with it. I'm still going to keep wearing it. I just wanted to hear people's opinions on it. Even though the original reason I wore a cross was non-religious, now that I am rediscovering my christian roots, it makes me want to wear it even more.

P.S. Does anyone know what christian denomination the guys from Lynyrd Skynyrd were?

Some very good finds. This is one of the most logical posts I've seen so far. Thanks for your input.

amen.
Wear a cross like a wedding band.
As a symbol and reminder of who we are.
We dont worship the cross around our neck and we dont have a love affair with a wedding ring.
