Recently at my workplace the topic of intermarriage was discussed. Some of my co-workers who are all black and female stated that they would marry out of their race as long as the person loved them.
I was the only one to differ. I said that although I have nothing against white folks, Indian or Chinese or any other ethnic group, I would PREFER to marry a BLACK man. They accuse me of being racist. I live in Barbados where the population is 90% black. I lived in England before and have seen interracial couples. I was never attracted to Caucasian men. As a black woman this is what I would prefer. I also stated that if whites could not marry my ancestors in 1811 why would they want to be married to me in 2011. This my personal preference and I do not think that I have to apologise for saying this. If a white person or a person of any other ethnic group made the statement concerning blacks I would not be offended.
