Is this odd, or is it me?

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Cloud Ten Pictures' "Left Behind: World at War" premiered Wednesday night (October 19) in Hollywood, but not at any of the usual venues such as Grauman's Chinese Theater or the ArcLight. Instead, the direct-to-video feature about the years of tribulation after the Rapture, when true Christians are taken into heaven, will premiere at the Hollywood Presbyterian Church before playing weekend engagements in more than 3,200 churches nationwide.

does anyone find this odd? I thought all presbyterian churches were covenantal and therefore NOT dispensational. Why would they show this movie?

No way. Dispensationalism's primary adherents in America were Presbyterians. Even though the incursion has been reversed in most denominations, it still holds out in more than a few churches. This is especially true when the pastor is dispensational. But Dispensationalism is now generally recognized as not Reformed. Its influence over the broader "evangelical" element is still strong, though.

Jon is correct (as usual) . Scofield and Chafer America's most important dispensational promoters were both Presbyterian, BUT Dispensationalism is an anti-Reformed theology and heterodox on aome important issues.

Wow - I grew up PCUSA and never heard dispensationalism until I attended a Christian Misssionary & Alliance church in college. Maybe the Presbyterian churches I've attended are exceptions, but I can't think of an instance where "end times" were discussed in a Presbyterian church.
