• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

When I'm really really depressed I feel like the veins in my wrists are burning and I have pain in my chest, too. Like something was pressing on it..

Is it normal to feel like that?
If it is sheer emotional pain, it can happen. My fame dysfunction had that effect on me. Burning veins thou, I not heard of it.

It wouldn't hurt to check with your doctor, just make sure it is not physical. Better safe than sorry.

No, I've never had that particular problem. Sounds a little more like a panic attack than depression.

Really? Wow, nobody else has that pain in the wrists..

Well I'm sure it's not a physical problem, as it only happens when I'm depressed... I'm surprised it only happens to me... it's a real sharp pain like if they were injecting that burning anesthesia in my veins.

Hi

I've not had the pain in my wrists but my chest hurts as well. Just like a giant hand is squeezing your chest. The more depressed you are the firmer the grip.

(I've also experienced very sore feet - like they become balloons with needles in them - but that happens when I'm manic.)

I get that feeling! It's not so much a burning as it is I feel like the blood is boiling and moving really fast through my veins. Odd, I know. But it only happens in my wrists...I get the chest crushing thing too with it. Yay for being weird. :p

I AM NOT A DOCTOR.

But yeah sounds like blood pressure. Along with the chest pain people sometimes get a burning in their calves and forearms during anxiety attacks, its caused by a high BP spike and with the added elevation from the attacks it causes the veins and arteries to stretch slightly. its not common but you should have it checked asap. IMHO.
