Natsumi ..yes it matters. As much as I love people here your going to get many different answers...

The lords prayer.. A man that had power of God seen so much.. cried so much in prayer.. good crying.. and for others.. would always pray the lords prayer. Was spirit filled. Walk by faith.. well.. just step out.. YOU do it.. let HIM lead you.. there are ways I believe but.. heard a true story that after .. made me really wonder.. do I LOVE JESUS?

Well she every DAY.. pray on her face for a hour.. get up read the bible for and hour.. after all it was 3 hours a day.. EVERY DAY! See.. He is REAL! And you will just WANT to do something.. oh it may not happen right away.. but it will happen. See He knows us ..duh. And we SAY we will do something but.. after a few tries we give up and stop.. you DONT STOP! You keep pressing in.. want to read .. then pray in the spirit the pray then worship.. what ever.. but when we let HIM lead.. He will tell you. He said.. the holy spirit will lead and guide you. For God is a spirit and we must come to Him in spirit and truth.

Its Him talking to you.. where do you think these IDEAS of praying worshiping came from? HAHA YEAH Your Father! Praise GOD glory to Jesus.

Again I love the people here but its like asking for prayer.. you don't know what the other believes. Is all the bible Gods word? Does He always hear you? I LOVE DAVID! Pa 4.. somewhere at the start says.. hear me when I call unto you.. keep reading and he now calls those things that be not as though they were. What he cant see or feel or hear and says... I KNOW you will hear when I call unto you! FAITH!

The word says..if we KNOW He hears us then we know we have the petitions we asked for. Gods will is Gods word. So do people believe all Gods word? The word says.. God hears the righteous.. Says He answers before we finish.. some don't believe this. So they will pray wrong. Ask for healing.. some might pray .. God is giving you this.. some may pray to bind the enemy in Jesus name.. do you see?

So... ask the one that is IN YOU! HE IS REAL! And LOVES to talk!

What about the Disciples praying in tongues? Was the Holy Spirit allowing a contradition of His Word?

We are told that praying in tongues is for public use. Is the Bible contradicting itself or are tongues not prayer?

If 2 or more are gathered in prayer are they wrong? How many more is too many to pray with before it is unacceptable?

Isnt it about the heart of the man? Or is it religiosity?

"Public" means out in the world among unbelievers.

Being with your congregation family is not public.

On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God.
....
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
-- Acts 4

So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. -- Acts 12

This was not public prayer, this was the Body of Christ praying corporately, in one accord.

The bible says tongues are for a sign to nonbelievers too. So public is applicable.

There are two ways that God The Father Teaches. Both are from a love I cannot adequately explain. Christ was made of quick understanding in The Fear of The Lord and He was also broken.
The Scriptures That follow pertain to Christ.

Isa.11
  1. [3] And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
Rev.2

  1. [27] And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
And

2Tim.3

  1. [12] Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

As we see tongues actually used in scripture, tongues are a sign that proves a people-group thought unable to be believers can be believers.

It was tongues that convinced Peter that gentiles could become believers--as gentiles were "unbelievers," tongues were their sign to Peter of belief. It was tongues that convinced Peter and John that Samaritans could become believers. It was tongues that showed Paul that Apollos' disciples were believers.

Everytime we see tongues used in scripture, it is to prove to believers that another group thought to be unable to believe could, in fact, become believers. We don't see tongues used in scripture any other way. I think Paul is talking about what scripture repeatedly displays.

And this is not prayer, so it's not relevant to the discussion of public prayer anyway.

In another thread a poster said to pray like the Lord's prayer but to not repeat it. Do you agree or is it religiosity creeping in? He said he doesnt pray during Church prayer time.
I don't think it's a bad idea to use the Lord's Prayer as a model, but I don't think it's wrong to pray it word-for-word either. It's a prayer, but it's also the recitation of Scripture, and we are called to study and ponder God's Word. So long as we mean what we're saying, I don't think it's wrong to pray it.

What about public tongues?
Scripturally, I understand that as a reference to the Holy Spirit giving people at specific times the capability of speaking a language in order to spread the Gospel (i. e. as at Pentecost), and not in the manner that I understand Pentecostal Christians to define it.

Is there a wrong way to approach the Father? Or is that religiosity? What about when we are sad, happy, weeping or mad?
Whenever we approach God, we should approach Him in humility. We may approach Him to seek forgiveness, peace, comfort, or anything. He will answer in whatever way is in accordance with His will.
Anger is a tricky subject, since we're called to let go of our anger, but talking to God about what we're going through can help us process our emotions and let go of our anger more quickly.

What about praying like David...a man after God's own heart?
Tentatively, I think it's fine to do that, but I'm not wholly sure what this is a reference to. Are you talking about the Psalms?

What about prayers of praise?
Absolutely! The Lord's Prayer opens up with "Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name". Praising God for what He's done and who He is should definitely be a part of our prayers, and I find it can be the hardest thing to do. It's easy to complain about everything that's going wrong, but we need to remember to focus on God's goodness and holiness. Praising God while praying is a great way to do this.

I see it as a very good example of what not to do. People slaughtered other nations in scripture. You don't have to follow anyone's lead in scripture. It's a historical document.

If you don't see what I see in scripture, it's the Holy Spirits problem to set us right...or not.
That's a fair point, but I don't think it applies to the Disciples speaking in tongues.

When people are disobedient to God in Scripture, there are bad consequences. When Jonah runs away from God, he is swallowed by the great fish. When Saul contacts a witch and uses her to commune with the dead, he and his sons are killed. When Ananias and Sapphira lie about how much money they received for their land, they are struck dead.

But when the Disciples speak in tongues through the power of the Holy Spirit (as described in Acts 2:4), more people are able to hear the Gospel, and three thousand people come to believe in Christ and are baptized (Acts 2:41). The consequences are not negative. They are positive.

Can you name 3 people today?
Can you find 3 people today who have heard tongues and came to believe as a result?

Not a wrong way... Its not formula he seeks , its sincerity of relationship.
Are you married.. Do you like it when your spouse only communicates to you by way of a repeated set of sentances every time they speak to you?
Lol i doubt anyone would.

There is a wrong attitude and a wrong motive
But howcwe pray .must simply be honest, open, humble, loving ,communicative in both speaking and listening...
Just as we would like done unto us :)

Add.you added in s question if tongues. Its brought in the dogs of unbelief to the topic.:(
I can answer much.but could ypu ask it again maybe in the "Charasmatic/spirit filled " forum ..?

Love in Jesus

What about when we are instructed to go to the elders to pray over our sickness. How many elders makes a crowd to you? Making it impermissible.
Laying on hands and praying for others, is warranted at times for healing or guidance, protection, and especially for someone who is not saved, for salvation. I got saved in after a group layed their hands on me and prayed for me.
I was speaking of personal prayers between you and God in my other post. The pastor and the congregation join in prayer, in agreement for specific needs. Smaller groups meet for prayer as well. Actually we are supposed to pray without ceasing. That means if you are alone, pray. If you are with others pray always including God in every aspect of your daily life.

No, but I don't see how that's relevant since the Bible describes such an event as having happened in Acts 2.

Miraculous events are often described in the Bible (the parting of the Red Sea, the dry fleece on wet ground, the Virgin Birth, etc.). Just because I did not see them, or any occurrence like them, does not mean they did not happen.

There is no Wrong way to pray to God.....If your prayer reaches God.....then it was done the right way....for one must enter at the door. All other prayers are considered, done amiss.

JESUS said...

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that ..believe..; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

just do what he says ..and believe HIS way not your own !

I know a lot of people speak and practice tongues. My whole family does. I know church people who do.

What does it have to do that it biblically happened too. You either believe the whole bible or not.
