I don’t believe in the sacred/secular divide when it comes to our jobs or careers. Can you provide Biblical insights that I can use with others for a devotional on this topic?

Dear Our Work Is Sacred,

The Bible certainly does not support the idea that work is secular and only spiritual activities like going to church, reading the Bible, or praying are sacred. Because we are redeemed by God’s mercy and His Spirit dwells in us, Christ is with us when we get up, when we lie down, when we work, and when we rest. Let’s look at the Bible verses that can be helpful in your outreach to others.

The Sabbath commandment makes it very clear that there is a division secular vs sacred work. On Sabbath no secular work is allowed, (mowing the yard, farming, building house) but secular work is allowed (priests officiating in Sabbath services).

Christ's ministry on Earth also distinguished between sacred work vs secular

No doubt humane work hours in each working day are also a good idea.

Is 58:13 only approves of sacred work/activity on the Sabbath.

The whole point creates a day of rest for humans . Sabbath means rest.

In Lev 23:4 and IS 58:13 it is both rest and worship

Jesus showed it is acceptable to do good on the Sabbath. The Pharisees didn't like that too much, but oh well. Maybe one way to look at it is this. If it is good, it's not work.

Nothing is secular when done to the glory of God.

A dualistic approach leads to many once a week Christians, where for six days we manage our lives on our own terms, and then on the seventh day, God gets His due. It leads to compartmentalizing our faith, separating it from our everyday lives and decisions.
