May I suggest to the OP that as a God-fearing Christian, you want to pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit? The mechanism differs from non-Christian meditation primarily in that "the Lord's Prayer" serves as an outline for how to go about this ...
How does one know when they have been "filled with the Holy Spirit"?

All of that stuff is wrong, yes. There is only one God, and he is who he is, people cannot mold him in their own image. He is distinct from his creation. He determines right and wrong and who gets to him. He has shared this information with mankind through the Bible.

You're talking about appearance. Christianity doesn't care about appearance so much as substance. "Turning into light" doesn't indicate good. Your Christian friend was right, in that the devil himself is capable of appearing as an angel of light.

"Meditation" in the Eastern/New Age sense is about blanking your mind. But Christians are to be vigilant:

I understand what you mean about turning in to light isn't good and its devil, but what does that say about Jesus who turned himself in the flesh into light?

i also understand that some meditation isn't good because of the Hindu religion and mantra, but what about the Christian Meditation Maranatha who has been practiced for centuries, by high Christians, who themselves say mantra of God, are you going to tell me they aren't good Christians, and what about Catholics school who teaches the student on Meditation and Christian meditation, and the history behind Maranatha are you telling that all the school are damming young children to hell, if something needs to done about it.

and i never understood why is it that in church we see this picture of God or Jesus, and think that he does look like that, isn't it said to be wrong to not have an idol, i don't understand why Jesus even have long hair in the bible man who wore long hair wasn't liked because it makes them look like woman. aren't church molding a picture of God for century to come.

and in the bible didn't it Paul (i think) said that when eating food that is offered to idol it isnt wrong it is only wrong when you know what your doing is against wrong and still do it

i might be wrong do please do help me out i really thought meditation was a form of prayer

sorry about that your right prayer is a form of meditation. typing mistake lol : -D

If anything, it's actually the other way around... prayer is a form of meditation.

This is a semi blind post, as I haven't read your entire post. sacrificing His only begotten Son for nothing, that is not the God I know.

I like that whole post, but if your expecting me to answer all those questions, well i cannot, i don't have all the answer plus I'm just learning. and you may be right not all religion has the way to get into heaven (hoping that's not the only reason people are Christians),
but i do know and feel that all religions hold a truth, and i mean all. Religion and the title is just what separates people, and i for one believe all religion derived from one another. I'm a Christian but i care not for the title, because when i think about it, I always wonder what would Jesus call himself. A Jew, Christian, Catholic, Lutheran, Taoist, Hindu, Methodist, Atheist, Baptist, Angelican, Juadist, Ana-Baptist, Seventh-day-Adventist/baptist. Well if he were to pick, i don't think he'd choose any of the above, because that wasn't the point of God entering this Earth and living among us. The point I got of Jesus is to show you the way to get to God and not to be lead astray by anything and anyone. And I think that naming yourself (list above) is what lead people astray from the symbol that Jesus present. Which was "I am the way to the Lord God." That just mean that nothing else should dare matter, right?

I believe no religion is right if i were to choose, i just believe that you should sit your butt down, call on God and ask/pray for help. Pray and Repent.

Welcome to our little corner of CF!
(And Happy New Year)

I think meditation is a method of relaxation. You can include spiritual elements into the practice if you want, but it is certainly not required.

Perhaps you can elaborate on the specifics of white light meditation?

Literally? The human body does emit the tiniest bit of light apparently, but I don't think you'll get more than that. Spiritually, the concept is rather ambiguous.

I can turn water into grape juice...if I had my magic spoon and canister of magic grape juice concentrate.

Meditation is a form of relaxation and i dont have any problem with it, sometimes i need to relax or else i'm gonna go crazy, way too much drama in my life.

White light meditation is visualizing pure white light coursing freely like a liquid down through each of the seven main spiritual chakra, which to me sounds weird but somewhat if you combine both the Jesus and what you learn about the human body it may not sound as far fetched as it may seem.

I don't understand what you mean, the human body lives off light, we are light, maybe we cant literally produce light, (though some might think different). we can produce unseen light like when it's cold and we get shock, and that shock is energy and energy is what produce light.

I for one had a very weird experience when it was winter i was really cold and i was getting goosebumps all over, and one day in my room my lamp finished and i went downstairs to look for a bulb but couldn't find one, i did find one but it was all black and was definitely not working, but i still took it to my room to try to see if maybe it would work, when i put it on my lamp, well it still didn't work and i was standing in the dark just really [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]ed off and cold. So i took the bulb off and rub it for like 7 minutes, since it was really cold in my room i happen to shock myself and the bulb several times but still didn't care and kept on rubbing, when i put the bulb back on thinking that "what am i doing this thing is done" the dang bulb lit up, me staring at it in amazement, the bulb had last me for a good hour until it close that when i got [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]ed threw the bulb away and went to bed lol.

But the point being is at first i believe that the bulb after putting it on the lamp the second time had some energy. But thinking about it several time, days later, it made more sense that i produced enough energy to help the bulb produce light. i.e. my energy, help the bulb produce energy, which then made light lol. I never really said anything about this before, i don't really care if no one believe me, but i believe that we hold light inside of us, but nothing further as becoming a bright white star like Jesus.

and cute, jokester i would actually love to see that magic spoon trick, are you going to tell me you can walk on water also, if so call me up at (1800 thats cute) : -D

Don't hedge your bets. Be one thing or be the other. Appropriating different aspects of different belief systems so you don't have to choose only one is disrespectful of your religion and their culture.

Let me fully say this your right, but i think i mess up, i'm sorry all, i meant to say that i refer to myself as Christian, i live the Christian life, i love to go to church i have Christian elder friends.

But as young as i am right now i have yet am able to comprehend much of this life. That is why i'm so lost and alone now. Your right i don't and i mean don't want to disrespect any one and their religion and culture by going back and forth but i do know that that only reason i'm going back and forth is because i've yet am able to process life as you all are able to, i would love to be more confident about my faith than i am now. though people might feel like i am enough i just don't feel like i am (i might be a perfectionist....psych breakthrough lol),

its just i lack much of the passion that i want, which is the reason why i'm lost, but other than that this is the reason why i sign up to this site to find help and get a better understanding, to look at people view and look at mine and see where it differ and where we both stand. And who knows as i grow up i would be much more passionate and more confident to yell at the top of my lungs this is "My faith, My God, My Lord Savior Jesus" without any hesitant, (i don't hesitate, just not as passionate)

I would hate to keep my thought and feeling now for my elder years, i rather get them over with before i enter adulthood, plus i wouldn't want God to vomit me out because i am going back in forth with him. lol that's just gross : -D

I would refer you to my post here, and ask that you argue from scripture rather than "I believe" or "I feel."
