I see it a lot being written and been told it. I want to know why people believe it is false.

I consider it my only hope each day. ....

The rapture is real...Paul wrote of it and is the only person to ever use the actual word rapture...the Greek word for rapture "harpazo"...however, he said it happens after the second coming and after the resurrection of the dead in Christ so it's a post trib rapture not a pre-trib.

1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Context is the second coming!

1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

This is the second coming!

1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

This is the rapture! The Greek word for rapture is harpazo and that's the term used by Paul!

So, the proper order of events according to scripture:

1. the second coming begins/Christ leaves heaven. (1Th 4:16) (this doesn't happen until the tribulation has ended, Mat_24:29)
2. the resurrection. (dead saints resurrect bodily in heaven and follow Christ as he returns to the Earth-second coming) (1Th 4:14-16)
3. the rapture. (living saints on Earth are gathered together from where ever they are on the Earth in order to meet Christ in the clouds when he arrives)(1Th 4:17)
This proves the pre-trib (and mid-trib) rapture to be false because the second coming comes after the tribulation not before or during it, Mat 24:29-30

So, the second coming happens and then the resurrection and then the rapture, all after the trib has ended.

A lot of the negative views have to do with misunderstanding terms and in some cases the language.

The term "caught up" is in 1 Thessalonians 4:17. That's harpazo in the Greek and in the Latin Vulgate it is rapiemur where we get rapture from. So it is in the text.

Where the main debate is on regards the timing in accordance with eschatology.

Differences are:

Rapture happens simultaneously with the Second Coming of Christ on the last day. This view is the historic futurist view also known as post tribulation view.

Rapture pre tribulation, mid tribulation or pre wrath.

It depends upon what is meant by "the rapture".

Do 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and Matthew 24:41-42 speak of a "rapture"? Yes, essentially, but is it the same event as 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, which is the resurrection... Thessalonians certainly looks like it, as both it and Corinthians mention the dead being raised.

Also we have the Tares and Wheat passage (Matthew 13:30) where it is the Tares who are taken first.

Furthermore, we have to keep in mind that the comparison often given is with Noah, but Noah was kept safe within the world not taken out of it, and the flood happened around them (anyone in such an Ark would have heard the waves of the deluge bashing against the sides).

Finally the idea of any rapture being "secret" is clearly untrue as Matthew 24:29-31, Revelation 6:12-16, and 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, with trumpet, voice of the archangel, a shout, the son of man visible in the heavens, and the kings etc hiding from the face of the lamb (to say nothing of a black sun, red moon, and stars falling from the sky) is about as far from secret as you can get.

I believe it is false. I do not believe in two "Second Comings" (the "Rapture" and another one).

I believe that either I will die and go to be with Jesus, or that Jesus will come for me and other Christians when He returns, as the Bible says:

For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17)

The rapture is real, time setting is the lie. If the Lord himself said He did not know the day or time then how do we know ? We simply don't know, the time , the day or the placement. But He is coming back and He is taking His people SOMEDAY.

As to that being someones only hope everyday, get a life ! And get that life in the promises of Jesus Christ for your life. Live your life and find your joy in the Lord throughout your life. If we are raptured so be it. he gave us a life to live and in him to live it more abundantly:

The rapture is the truth, as the Bible so plainly indicates. But it's a highly controversial subject as to when it will occur. Just start skimming all the threads in the Eschatology subforum and you'll see how much debate goes on about it. So I'm afraid you'll probably end up at the end of this thread just as confused as you were at the beginning.

Cling to the undebatable (sorta) promise that as a Christian you will end up with Christ in the end and for all eternity.

Keep on doing so , Jesus will not put His children through the time when He Jesus puts on trial those who choose to love live in sinful wickedness , some people will repent during the GT , but the vast majority of true followers of Jesus will be harpazo -snatched away before the GT happens -

Currently there is a lot of rebellion going on in the church - where people insist that Jesus will not reign on earth , those who refuse to believe the 1000 year reign of Jesus will happen - those who believe the end of the age was 70 ad and a various other false beliefs.
It is a relentless attack on Gods Word ,

The rapture is just another word for the resurrection:

When you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. (Eph. 1:13-14)

That redemption is the bodily resurrection of the church at the return of Christ.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. I don't particularly like the use of the word, 'rapture', because what we are talking about is the resurrection.

The rapture is a snatching away of people who are alive - not dead people
there is a resurrection of saints that happens a moment before the rapture which is why people get the things confused , and because the resurrection happens in phases for lack of a better word it cause more confusion as to when the first resurrection happens - which is something else people choose to fight about when all people have to do is study all of the bible

I advise you to go to pre trib reasearch center since you believe in the Rapture read psalms 138:1,2,3
Pray about it and watch the Debates there were a few there last year from some good men on both sides of the issue just remember good men sometimes disagree,and there will be so many scriptures hit this forum after this post get in a quiet place where the Holy Spirit can help you.

Well of course that's true, technically those who are alive aren't going to die a natural death so their not really resurrected in that sense.

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Cor. 15:51-52)

Sometimes it's referred to as the 'translation'.
